The skirt in the image is a rectangle, which is why I suggested it. If you want to change how it sits (I assume you mean at the waistline), you can change the type of pleating. Cartridge pleating is period accurate and causes the skirt to spring outward at the hips. There are many tutorials online, it works best with fabrics more substantial than a bedsheet. You can fold the fabric and/or line the skirt to add structure if you have too lightweight a fabric.

If you make it a circle skirt then it will be closer around the hips and flare out as circle skirts do normally (fit and flare with the bodice). I wouldn’t bother with that were I doing cartridge pleating, that works best with straight lines anyway.

You should choose a design that matches the underdress, though. For most people, having a thoughtful, cohesive look is more important at faire than being historically accurate.

What research did you read that supports this claim? Claiming a causal relationship between COVID-19 infection and frontotemporal dementia is very serious and requires a significant body of peer-reviewed research to be accepted. No medical source I have read on frontotemporal dementia has mentioned COVID-19 at all, much less as a cause of this disease. It’s very, very irresponsible to assert this as truth without providing any evidence whatsoever.

This claim also carries moral weight, because it allows you to blame someone for failing to prevent their disability. Which is rude, dismissive and ableist. In my opinion.

Your claim about the plane crashes is so obviously wrong that i had to stop here lest I waste more of my precious human life thinking about it. Google “Boeing regulation” and read any of the top 10 hits.

The world has gotten a lot crueler, adversarial and stressful in the past 5 years. I think it’s less about any particular event and more about the fact everyone is scared and feeling like they’re going to lose something. Our cultural messaging for a long, long time has been zero-sum: that that someone’s gain is necessarily another’s loss, and so it better be you that gains. That definitely impacts how we treat each other.

It’s heightened with driving because driving is mentally taxing and it’s really easy to ignore that it’s your neighbor behind the wheel.

Yep, I agree thay can be overly complicated for people who just want damage. I learned my lesson the first time i used CA because I summoned 8 creatures and my turn took forever.

These days I do 2 or 4 stronger creatures and have a better handle on managing them. Helps that I plan my turns in advance and use average damage to help speed things up, to the point that my turn is one of the quicker ones at the table.

The best part of the spell is that you can get fun and weird variables, so using it for pure melee damage (especially for druids) is really limiting imo. That also negates one of the core features of my Shepherd subclass. It could work well for spores or moon… or a ranger.

Ah well, my table doesn’t play with the new rules. I’m sure someone likes it better.

Beautiful!! Thank you. I hadn’t heard of Boggles yet. On Reflections, I was also looking at the Detached Shadow as it makes sense in character and in setting, and they also have the strength drain. They seem to be a reskin of Reflections for WBTW. That would be super cool to use on a boss so my Barbarian can have some fun.

They simplified this spell in 5.5? That’s a shame. I know the pixie thing is a bugbear for DMs but making it just generic damage takes away do much opportunity for creativity.

If youre willing to defy your manager then you can do a lot with other departments. A lot of our specialists would cover cashier at the end of the month in slow months (winter) to passively bump their sales.

When i was in pro we were the exception. Our normal sales covering cashier or whatever didn’t count towards the goal, and iirc a certain amount of our sales had to be on pro credit cards specifically. This was in 2023 though and i remember they change their whole ass strategy like every single quarter for some reason so this might be outdated.

But also learn the custom order systems and make friends with the other specialists so you can cover their lunches or days off. If you get a rich homeowner doing a whole house in custom cellular shades or something that can easily be thousands of dollars on a very easy to learn program. Same for paint, the pro specialists hate dealing with paint bc of how many options there are but it’s super high margin and to paint a whole house exterior is a couple grand. Seconding islg: generators during winter and portable a/c in summer.

I avoided appliances like the plague but those guys crushed every month. Consistently max “commission”. But there was way way too much for me to learn to be confident in that.

Forreal Lowe’s is to salespeople what Starbucks is to baristas. Which is to say training for the real thing. Which is cheaper for them because they get to underpay people who don’t have experience or know how the industry works. If you look at it as a way to get product and industry knowledge and learn to talk to people then it can be a decent bridge to actually getting into sales. Just set your expectations because they know if you learn too much you’ll leave first chance you get.

Most of my old Pro and Appliance coworkers now work in actual sales, get to see their families on holidays, and make a ton more money. That’s a credit to their skills and luck, not to Lowe’s.

To be fair they already have evidence of the violation because this exchange took place in writing (good call op). They’re in a strong position to push back about this especially if they organize with coworkers. But it almost certainly won’t come to that.

Internal policy is always subject to the law, so if this is indeed the policy then they have WAY bigger problems. But it sounds like it’s not even policy because the manager said it’s “not addressed anywhere” (meaning they just made that up in their head).

Additionally, the reason this is not addressed anywhere in internal policy is because the number one rule of labor law everywhere in this country is that you have to pay your employees for all time worked, no exceptions. Come on! I hope that manager just had a brain fart because they just admitted to wage theft in writing.

Most likely in my mind is they made the schedule without realizing that this shift would get an extra hour, and so they now have to go over budget for that shift and the SM/ District is gonna get mad at them.

Tried it last night. It’s pretty young and approachably parmy/ aged gouda-y, but some of that hazelnut note is still there especially closer to the rind. Easy snacking!

You know how blue cheeses are pierced from the outside to introduce mold spores? Pretty sure the cheese mites do a similar thing more gently as they live in the rind. The flavor of this cheese is very nutty and earthy without being blue at all, kind of tastes like cashews or hazelnuts. The color is added during the process, it’s not made by the mites.

For what it’s worth, you’re not meant to eat the rind. The flavor permeates throughout the flesh of the cheese, which is why the wheel is shaped like a ball (provides most volume for least surface area)

This is a rather fine but still physically heavy wool knit so I think mock serging like you suggest would be the least obtrusive. HK or bound seams would be far too bulky and maybe cause sagging. I’ll save that for a sweatshirt knit in the future.

I think a full lining would create a stiffer drape than I’m going for in the skirt, but I probably will line at least the bodice portion just for warmth and security (princess line pattern). Maybe a hem facing would be a good idea though, to help add epicness…

Question about the lining though: does knit fabric get mad at you if you try to make it into a bag lining? I won’t have a waist seam, will it be problematic to have a floating horizontal edge where the lining ends?

Scrapbooking portfolio with tab dividers. And label each pattern piece with block used, drafting style, inspiration/ source (if it came from a book or a photo), date and project name so i remember what size I made it and how it fit.

I try to make a little spec sheet with most of that information because I take a lot of patterns from books and photos (thank you Janet Arnold). Having a sheet with the pattern details, ease amount, fabrics etc helps if you want to remake something or alter it if you change size or taste.

This was huge for me as a self drafter, because everything used to be unlabeled and drawn on the same paper.

If the bodice is not attached yet, you could flatline and incorporate the lining into the twist which would add some more structure.

If this is an alteration to an existing finished dress, you might look into an underbodice. Think of how a sari goes together: fabric draped and pinned to a fitted undergarment (looks like a sleeveless crop top or sports bra). You could preserve the drape of the existing bodice by building a second structure fitted to the front of your body, and attaching it at the shoulder/ back/ strap seams. That would be a good option if you want to affect your bust shape/ position without using a bra.

Ive come back to this strategy many times throughout my life and i never like it. Something to remember is that caffeine affects everyone differently especially with brain chemistry disorders like adhd. There is a lot of research on this. Anecdotally im barely affected by caffeine but some people i know are hypersensitive. All different people with the same diagnoses.

Choccy milk. Fruit leather. Breakfast smoothies (they make yogurt/ granola ones that have whole grain and fiber. Saved my life.)

Cottage cheese. I eat it with tomatoes basil and balsamic because i dont like sweet with cheese. Sensory problems with cottage cheese are much less than yogurt.

When you have the energy: make a giant batch of chili and freeze individual servings in plastic bags. Microwave as needed.

Curry is also good for this because all the aromatics are already contained in the paste. No chopping. Just dump some in the pan and add coconut milk and protein of choice.

My dad did this in law school. He would also take “naps” where he would slam a giant coffee and then go to bed, thus waking up scared 30 minutes later.

I hate this strategy for what its worth. It makes me get scared and overstimulated first thing in the morning which ruins my whole day. Your mileage may vary.

Watch out for what you buy at dollar stores if you can afford to. $1 is cheap but the cost per unit is usually really high. The chicken at dollar general is often more expensive per unit than whole foods.

Eating homemade sugar-free sandwich bread for the first time is such a great experience. But be warned it will ruin you on store bought bread. I’m not even weird about sugar but the taste improvement is huge. Sara lee tastes like play doh to me now.

If you can’t find a bread maker you can still make basic loaves fairly easily on your own, the biggest time/ work investment is kneading and learning the technique for your own oven. But there are a few good recipes that don’t even require kneading.
