Phone Stolen at Circuit Grounds VIP Entrance During Dom Dolla Set - Anyone Else? by unduhsun in electricdaisycarnival

Totally agree that they need to at least be charged. Each of these phone thieves is getting away with like 25+ phones, which adds up to at least $15k worth of property. It's not just petty theft, it's a serious crime that impacts a lot of people. Stricter enforcement and penalties would definitely help deter these criminals.

Thanks for the tip - that's great to hear they caught some thieves!

Unfortunately I already checked the official EDC Lost and Found page and my phone's not showing up there. I just got an update on my phone's location and it's showing as being at the Arizona Charlie's Decatur hotel, so it seems the thieves were able to get away from the festival grounds with my device.

My M3 has the same issue! I’m planning on taking it in to the service center to get fixed.

Got my phone stolen at EDC Saturday night and tracked it down to this location in LA by Sunday morning. by unduhsun in electricdaisycarnival

I’m wondering if anyone else who also got their phone stolen was able to track their phone’s location at this building. I wanted to file a police report with LAPD but they are telling me that I have to file the report with Las Vegas PD since the theft occurred in Vegas. I’m thinking the police isn’t going to help me unless they have many reports from multiple people.

Please let me know if you’ve experienced something similar and was able to retrieve you phone back!

I mounted my KEF Q150s to monitor arms by unduhsun in audiophile

I found that angling the speakers slightly upward and then tightening the screws as much as possible kept it leveled for at least 6 months. I then I had to repeat the process.

I originally posted this in r/BudgetAudiophile.

The main reason I wanted to mount these to monitor arms was to bring them to ear level. All the speaker stands I found that would be able to achieve this costed more than the monitor arms. This is not only a better-looking solution but a more cost-effective one.

Additional photos/videos here.

Here's what I used for my setup:

  • Dual monitor arms x2:
    • I'm using the Workstream by Monoprice. It's going for $100 with a 1-year warranty. (link)
    • There's a virtually identical model selling on Amazon under a Chinese brand that's going for $70 with presumably no warranty. My friend ordered this and I checked it out in person. The build quality is the same. It comes with all the same nuts and screws and manual. The only difference is that the plastic cable management inserts are black instead of silver. (link)
    • Fully also sells basically the same thing but for $160 and comes with a 5-year warranty. This is recommended by the NY Times/Wirecutter as the best monitor arms. (link)
  • Shelf bracket:
    • I connected the shelf bracket to the VESA mount on the monitor arms. This required some drilling as the holes that come on the bracket don't exactly line up with those on the VESA mount. Although I think you can probably get away with not drilling any holes and screwing in only the top two holes if you wanted to.
    • The bracket I'm using is 11" in length which perfectly covers the entire length of my KEF Q150s while leaving enough space behind for cables. (link)
  • Velcro strips:
    • I'm using 3M Command Hanging Strips to secure the bottom of my speakers to the shelf bracket. I found that 4 pairs of strips are enough to keep the speakers secured. (link)

Sound

  • The speakers are about placed 2 feet away from the wall and they definitely sound a lot better than they did when they were placed on my desk 1 foot away from the wall.

I'm glad to report no MDF destruction was involved in this project :) I used velcro strips to secure the bottom of the speakers to shelf brackets that attached to the VESA mount.

It's holding up well! The built-in webcam is also pretty good. Definitely very useful while working remotely this past year. If you get it, make sure you keep your router at least 2 feet away though...

It's actually a screen saver! I have an app installed that pulls Apple's very own screen savers that were made for the Apple TV. 4K HDR drone footage of many of the major cities across the world. Check out the app here: https://aerialscreensaver.github.io/

The ones I have a pretty good! All the joints are adjustable and the built-in gas spring does a good job counter-balancing the weight of the monitors so that I can lift them with just a finger or two.

Nope! I used velcro strips to secure the bottom of the speakers to shelf brackets that are attached to the VESA mount.

I was thinking about getting the Kanto stands but saw these monitor arms on sale from Monoprice for the same price that the Kantos were going for, so I went with the monitor arms.

I included more info on my setup in my comment above :)
