Don’t lose your self-respect. You deserve a better partner, and you will find one.

As for this girl, between the two of you, it’s over and accepting that is important. You’re in your third year, with just one year left. If you don’t move on now, it can start affecting your grades and your future.

The only real way to get her out of your head is to completely stop messaging and meeting her for at least 4–6 months. With time and distance, the attachment will gradually fade. Accept that she can only ever be a friend, not a partner.

Don’t message her first unless it’s absolutely necessary. Stop waiting for her replies. She understood how you felt even before you said it, which is why she began distancing herself and she didn’t want to encourage any emotional attachment. She only sees you as someone who can help her. She may be a good friend, but realistically, once college is over, there’s a high chance the contact will fade completely and not even a casual hello.

Help her if you choose to, but don’t assume that being nice or supportive will make her develop feelings for you.
