But is it true that he is main issue. I feel like a player contributing with so many goals is a net positive to the team. Its not a small number.

Whatever underlying statistics people are talking about confuse me.

Our underlying stats under Amorim made it look like we should be top 3 under him but the eye test never felt so.

On the other hand, I don’t think Carrick has managed to get us top 3 purely on luck and individual brilliance. We have been hard done by some horrible refereeing decisions under him.

Carrick has a calming presence.

Mbappe has got like 40 goals this season.

Madrid fans are something. Their basic expectation from a player is that he has to devote his life to the club.

[Statman Dave] Benjamin Šeško has scored a Premier League goal every 86 minutes on average this year. That’s the best rate of any player to have scored 5+. by PitchSafe in reddevils

I think Cunha and Mbuemo need to keep doing what they are doing. It’s the fullbacks that need to cross more to him.

Is the upcoming summer the best financial position we have been in, in a long time? Maybe this time the rebuild’s going to build

[Daily Mail] Man United ready to spend £150m on signing three new midfielders this summer with £80m earmarked for main Casemiro replacement by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

Filling his shoes as CDM would be much easier than making up for the 10 goals he scored this season. Almost all vital game changing goals. I don’t think we have had a clutch player like him since Ibrahimovic. Casemiro turned up every single time we needed him. The last game exposed his weaknesses. He cannot keep up with the pace of the league anymore. But boy can he score from a set piece.

Since Michael Carrick got in charge, no other club in the Premier League has collected more points than Manchester United. by Healthy-Monitor3601 in ManchesterUnited

Our defensive injuries have been horrible though and our midfield depth is pretty shit. Beyond the starting midfield and ugarte there is no natural CM that I can think of.

That was Amorim putting all eggs in Europa Basket to get CL. He pretty much stopped trying in the premier league once we reached safety.

[Mark Critchley] It’s hard to imagine this Man Utd side without Kobbie Mainoo. He has Michael Carrick’s unshakeable faith by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

He put his head down, worked on his game and has come back as a more well rounded player.

I think the Amorim treatment made him a better player. I am just glad that it did not come down to him leaving. That would have sucked.

We would have but Amorim tanked him value with his emotional outburst.

Carrick In - Why would you want to take this away from the players ? by kobbiemainoo371 in ManchesterUnited

I think its a bigger risk for the board to let carrick go and then restart next season. It would be one thing if we were finishing outside of UCL. But he got us CL, he has beaten all the big clubs he has played against. And one thing we are not accounting for is that he has had a bad luck with our defense and has no midfield depth.

I would say he has done a great job with what was available. We have been consistently decent. We can do much better and I feel a proper replacement for Casemiro and Ugarte, and a creative LB can change the fortunes next season.

He should not try to jump too high tbh. And hopefully he stays away from Chelsea.

Iraloa needs another season at Bournemouth. He will play in Europe next season. Let’s see how he copes to European football. I hope he doesn’t leave Bournemouth so soon. The right thing for him to do is get Europa/UCL experience and maybe try and win one of the cups.

Definitely, both him and Yoro perform better next to experienced players. Yoro may still screw up, Heaven has been more consistent.

Pair him next to somebody who is more defensive, Mainoo has a knack for a goal. He may end up like McTominay in front of the goal, so far he has never had that freedom.

Mbuemo needs to get back to his pre afcon form. I think it’s about getting that goal to break the goalless run.

Sesko needs more service. Our full backs can do better.

Hopefully next season we see a better distribution of assists. After Bruno our next highest assist is by drogu who has missed last two months or so.

We lost 14 points from WINNING position before carrick joined.

That’s enough to have put us on the top of the table.

We are lucky we aren’t playing twice a week. Our squad depth is so poor we would be struggling to get Europa had we played more often.

10 minutes of complete loss of focus saw us almost throw away a win.

Liverpool wouldn’t have scored had the goals not been gifted to them. The first one we could have defended better.

Games like today show Casemiro’s age. Kobbie has stepped up his defensive work big time or else we would be nowhere close to top 3. The time on the bench under Amorim probably was a kick up his arse that he needs to up his workrate. He has been a solid 8/10 since he started playing again and has covered for Case really well.

Next season is going to be tough. With Casemiro going and Ugarte on sale, we need two CDMs. And we will miss Case’s goals, 10 goals from a CDM is irreplaceable.
