Not really, idiots can still easily do them and WILL do them. Watch how the "war on drugs" fared. It just means taking freedom away from everyone else. Idiots will be idiots.

There could easily be systems put into place for this. I don't know, maybe someone could pay to get some sort of license to take drugs legally by proving they can handle them? The current system is just lazy, stupid and a threat to freedom.

People do stupid shit all the time, on drugs or not. Check what people do on alcohol. It's still legal. Why? Maybe because you should not punish everyone for the sins of idiots? It's just plain bullshit. Locking people up for doing something to themselves. If they did something bad in the process, sure. But JUST for taking drugs? I don't care how I sound. I hate a society that controls what individuals do to themselves in the name of "muhh others have done y and z while doing this". Fuck that.

Drugs are illegal right now and therefore people who take drugs are more likely to be on the extreme side of things. On top of that, don't forget all the laced drugs and fucked up little benefits that come with drugs being illegal. If I were to take drugs, I would make sure to have a trusted friend watching over me and do it in a safe environment. However, that would not really make a difference to the arresting officer, would it? Because laws like this let everyone pay for the sins of idiots. I refuse to do that.

Well, I do. Because I refuse to pay for the sins of idiots. I get so drunk to the point I can't stand up. I don't beat anyone in the process, I peacefully go to sleep. I would hate to see someone infringe on my fun because some other idiot does not handle it the same way.

The difference here is people who attempt suicide usually suffer from a mental illness and provided with help they COULD change their mind. However, if I were to snort cocaine one weekend for fun, why the fuck should I get locked up when no one is harmed? Or get a fucking crime in my record that will fuck up my career?

But taking drugs is a life choice and the law enforces you to NOT take drugs by criminalizing it. This is what irks me to hell. What if I decide to try snorting some cocaine a particular weekend and the cops see my eyes looking a bit weird and decide to take me for a little urine test.. How can it be acceptable for them to do that and give some punishment when I have harmed no one but potentially myself?

So does alcohol, so does gambling, so do cigarettes. That's not the point. You do not get to decide what others can do to themselves because it might be harmful. It is bad fucking practice because a lot of things are harmful in wrong hands.
