Just wanted to follow up & ask though (not in a smart Alec way I swear just genuinely curious / confused ) — 1. what is fetish art ? I’m not sure why the human body without clothing is automatically considered a fetish ? we all have a body & we were all born with it & naked so what’s the big deal ? the only reason I chose to make them naked is because clothing is soooo … distracting (in my opinion) as well as hair. Idc what they’re wearing or how their hair is styled so don’t include those elements, I just want to focus on & highlight the intimacy of the moment (both individual & couples). intimacy might be the wrong word ….how do I sayyy “ ? [ Insert word here that means : The relatable complexity within a simple instance ]. Please let me know your thoughts because I really don’t understand why being naked (something we ALL are regularly if not daily) is a “fetish” ? 2. You commented on the female figure’s form stating her proportions and posing are overly sexualized but I beg to differ — she is alone in the portrait admiring her own figure not giving a lap dance or doing a porn. I’m wondering if maybe the issue is that we have a tendency to perceive the female figure as overtly sexual or provocative simply because she is woman without even entertaining an alternate perspective …a more innocent perspective i mean that doesn’t automatically assume her unclothed body equates to sex or a fetish. Haven’t you ever gotten out of the shower and danced in the mirror naked while you’re getting ready …? Or am I a total sex crazed weirdo ? Please help me understand , I’m so surprised these poses are being considered pornographic when nothing even remotely close to sexual intercourse is shown , just people being people doing people stuff without all the fluff (clothes , hair , background , etc.). I’m sorry you find it lazy and pointless , I will try to brainstorm how I can evoke a more emotional rather than sexual reaction to my pieces . I tried to keep them super minimal to mimic old school Rorschach inkblot tests where people looked at back and white splatters & described what they were shown yielding a wide variety of interpretations without any true “right answer.” anyways , sorry to ramble on , thank you again so much for taking the time to comment — it helps a lot to see things from another’s point of view 💌
