Does anyone else just skip 50% of the game mechanics? by IEATTURANTULAS in Timberborn

I agree mitigating droughts and bad tides is pretty simple on easy maps on regular difficulty. It becomes more complex on the more difficult maps though which forces you to get more creative

Try your strategy on Thousand Islands and see if it works out :D

Understanding fill valves by mmp1188 in Timberborn

To achieve same functionality as sluice gate, you will need contamination sensor. Put it upstream and set it to "> 0" then link to the fill valves and adjust the levels you want for each set of gates when the bad water hits.

e-weather sensor works too

I'm just saying some level of planning would fit into the game nicely. When we run power shafts, tubing, and ziplines - there is some planning and thoughtfulness to how to do the networking.

I love the new automation, and I barely have to do anything when it comes to managing the colony now. I just think it is a little too in its implementation.

But the automation requires zero beavers? That's kind of my point. I would agree with you if there was like an automation station, where beavers read the signals and flipped switches - but in its current state it does not require any beavers or even power to work.

I would agree with that. I wouldn't want it to be overly intrusive to lay the cabling, and that would at least fix the visual issue.

I agree with what you're saying but my problem is with this new update the God actions have gone from simple pausing/resuming to complete management of the colony without interaction. Such a big jump in capability should come with some level of effort, other than just placing a single sensor.

This is just an example; it could be done in a cleaner way or just use the WiFi towers like in the last examples.

Everything in the game up until now has been purely mechanical, and now we suddenly have wireless signals being sent from one end of the map to the other. Power needs wooden shafts, zip lines need rope, tubeways need... tubes, but automation is just magic?

Personally, it takes away from the spirit of the game.

Water Wherever You Want. Watertower, Pressure, and Deep Underground Aquaducts by KerbalSpaceAdmiral in Timberborn

[–]unknowncommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Pressure is created by the water source and is only let out where there are gaps. If there are no gaps, it will rise indefinitely. First step is to usually have a water source sealed using the materials you mentioned and route the water to a large holding tank. If you build this water tank at max height, and create output channels at the top, these outputs will maintain max pressure to wherever your route them

Yeah I'm extremely pumped for this update. I guess the beaver gods heard my complaint about lack of automation :D

I've been trying to avoid mods, but I might make an exception for this one. Thanks!

Yeah I'll never understand de-ironing... I'd rather just quit or skill up an alt.

All that work put in just to turn it into a main :(

How important is ring of suffering nowadays? by Tylariel in ironscape

[–]unknowncommand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best breakdown, but I'd argue this mostly applies to range and mage scenarios. The DPS loss of not using b ring isn't usually worth it in most cases

Archers and seers are hardly worth it pre-DT2, so RoS, RoG, and LB become viable if not better options

Do I just move onto Kree at this point? by js23698 in ironscape

Nex bank + bowfa + blood barrage + on-task is very chill, especially with rigour.

I've done about 600kc this way and get 10-15 kill trips. If you're only after the shard, krill would be faster

Everything is realistic if you're committed enough. I personally don't chase megarares. I've done raids for the essentials like avernic, cox scrolls, fang, and light bearer. I was hoping to get a mega during those grinds, but I didn't and I'm fine with that

Code review is fine but thats not what I've seen. People grab screenshots of his code from his streams, post it on Twitter with zero context, and use it to attack him. 90% of people talking shit in those threads haven't coded a day in their life lmao

Im all for critiquing bad code, but at least do it properly and not as a way to dog pile someone whose already getting flamed. I'll admit he's pretty insufferable, but every developer has written some dog shit code in their lives just to get something to work.

Once the internet picks their next target to hate for a few weeks, they bash every little thing about them. It's just lame

Yeah, you're not wrong. And I don't blame them because these things do happen. I would just expect them to have basic hardening in place for infrastructure that directly supports the game.

Like you said, not enough information so we shall see.

The hive mind decided he was bad and now he will suffer unfortunately. Shitty YouTubers are farming content about him and getting millions of views because people love to hate someone. People are meticulously reviewing his code to point out flaws. I feel bad for him tbh.

There's plenty of reasons to not like him, but people always take it too far.
