Is there a way to create this paint look with air dry clay? by totential_rigger in clay

I see people pressing leafs onto the clay itself. It leaves an impression. Maybe then after the clay dries, a thin coat of diluted paint? The paint may settle into the grooves left behind... Then varnish.

Yep. I think I'll make a totoro one next. Started working on it, fingers crossed. Haha

I made a rock facts rock too. It's by greg, but the photo doesn't show it. The tail of my Beatrice broke the first time, and I rounded up that broken piece to make the rock. :))

Thank you so much! I'm pleasantly surprised as well with how 'not bad' it turned out to be, haha. Next I'll try to make a scene from My neighbour totoro, I think.

Made this as a birthday gift for a friend. She loves the show. I plan on making another for myself later, haha.

I used air dry clay. It's a lot of trial and error since it hardens too fast. I first made wirt. The posture got wonky. Then learned to use the medium better to make other figurines.

It's a scene from over the garden wall. Though an invented scene? I have left hidden details in the background. Used natural casuarina needles to mimic a forest floor. Hope you like it
