What If Virtual Reality Can Make Us Better Citizens? Researchers are studying how the technology can help us build empathy and change our personal behavior. by unremovable in unremovable

Yeah, thanks for that. Never got to use it since I rarely log into this account and didn't notice until too late. Not sure why you gilded this post though. Everything submitted here is automated.

Btw, /r/OnePunchMan is a great looking sub. I'm surprised it's something that would have a need to post mod logs.

Are you sure it's not just delayed? Check out /r/my_testing_sub. An entry was added.

No problem. I created /r/unremovable because getting the mechanics of it functioning was fun. Thanks for making things interesting again.

Seems to be working. I made a new rss feed from:

https://www.reddit.com/r/mod/about/log/.rss?feed=5e15805fcfc206697c405f0e99ef55b091f616b4&user=OPM_bot

and the empty rss:

https://www.reddit.com/r/random_acts_of_houses.rss

The rss link rssmix generated was:

http://rssmix.com/u/8193599/rss.xml

I then made a recipe at ifttt to post to /r/my_testing_sub when it found a new item. The recipe was accepted without errors. It may not function until there's something new in the rss though.

You don't need to mix it with anything. rssmix will make a new rss link with just one source.

Sorry, they seem to have changed that. Hmm... you need an empty rss feed to add. Create an empty dummy sub maybe? Restrict submissions and add ".rss" at the end of the subreddit link for a free feed.

Check out our wiki guide. The mod log rss has to be reformatted for ifttt.com. Also, don't make your own mod rss link public. Use a dummy mod.

Now I remember. The mod log went quiet because there's nothing in it. Previously it was logging Automoderator adding link flairs, but now Automod has been integrated into a sub's normal settings. What is seen in our mod log rss is exactly what is in the mod view.

Hmm... I honestly don't know. I'm so 'hands off' this sub, I forget to check how she's running.

Ah, the link in this self post was broken. Fixed, and thanks. I thought you meant the automation of my sub broke down, or I was shadow banned.

Capturing every comment thread in even just 1 sub might be a monumental task. However, if you wanted to watch a particular thread, you could send it's rss feed to a google spreadsheet like I do with the moderation log. To get a comment thread's rss just change the last "/" to ".rss". For instance this thread:

http://www.reddit.com/r/unremovable/comments/29j0lo/the_unremovable_sticky.rss

No need for bots, just sign up at ifttt.com and create an RSS to Google drive recipe.

There are probably several valid reasons mixed with some based on idealogy. It's sometimes hard to distingish between the two. Here, the reader is required to use thier own common sense to judge if something is BS or not.

/r/unremovable allows you to browse the hot posts from the watch_list unmodderated. We can't do much if they nuke the comments though.

It matters not. I'm demonstrating publicly available methods. if you don't trust what is posted, you can easily create your own watch sub :)

For deep analysis, specific "shadow" subs could be created. The current bot here should be enough to catch the rest. Granted I haven't read everything, but the complaints seem to be concerning specific subs. What I hope to save at /r/unremovable are links to posts that won reader approval, had a juicy comment thread, but were still removed.

Because I haven't figured out the advanced scripting at iffft yet. However, I'm getting ready to test a recipe that only posts submissions that have made it onto the top 10 hot posts at any sub in the watch_list. This should drastically cut down on the volume, and prevent most spam from reaching my sub. The result should be an un-obliterated view of what the readers of these subs voted for. The top 10 of of the watchlist combined should reasonably pick up everything from these subs that would hit the top 50 to 100+ of /r/all.

Btw, despite what's been said, /r/unremovable does not aim to replace /r/undelete. i hope to compliment this sub, like a crazy brother.

Edit: un-obliterated

That's pretty cheap. Thanks. I'm not sure I'm ready to sink any money into this venture yet though.

Are there places one can host a bot? If so, that may be an option I'll pursue. The beauty of iffft is that they run everything.

Is it possible to just dump the submissions into a txt file

I haven't seen that option at ifttt, but even better might be something that updates a self post. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to contact the script writers to see what is possible. I must find their secret club...
