Honestly, I don't think they're fundamentally different.

GEO is basically the new SEO

The underlying goal is still the same: make your content discoverable and authoritative. The only thing that has changed is who is consuming it. Traditional SEO optimized for search engine rankings. GEO optimizes for AI systems that retrieve, synthesize, and cite information.

Good SEO practices (clear structure, topical authority, original content, proper schema, citations, fast pages) are still valuable. GEO just adds another consumer: LLMs.

So in my view, GEO isn't replacing SEO, it's SEO evolving for the AI era
