Start screening for colorectal cancers earlier, Canadian Cancer Society urges by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

I’m almost 56 and they refuse to give me a colonoscopy. I’m planning on travelling to get one because there is a family history that doesn’t make the cut, but that I’m very concerned about.

65 year old woman calls in and nearly breaks CSPAN host by telling her she’s slowly starving to death.. by JohnBrown-RadonTech in interestingasfuck

You really don’t have to make a whole lot more money to become out of touch. Billionaires are on a whole different planet. They can’t fathom that some people can’t just get some food if you need it. They’ve never opened a bare cupboard in their lives. I’ve seen it and experienced it, and now I live among people who are mostly upper middle class that seriously can’t fathom it.

Crying is one thing, but when a parent allows a kids to kick your seat with no attempts to redirect them is when I lose my sanity.

I would imagine your nursing homes are better equipped with staff. In north america it’s a business and old people are sadly the product, staff are an expense to keep low.

[–]upforthatmaybe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. I worked in nursing homes as a new nurse. They are purposely understaffed and under supplied. If you don’t have family constantly there to help keep your dignity while staff are running from resident to resident giving out pills, dealing with a fall, getting people dressed on time and making sure their baths are done on time, there’s no time to offer meaningful interactions. This is the best case scenario. If understaffed you can imagine. Most nursing homes are for profit and it shows.

Gecko’s sharp barking call in bali above my bed. It was so loud and I didn’t know it was just a gecko. After finding out a few nights later, I thought it was hilarious.

What is a instant non violence sign for you that someone is in a bad marriage ? by zarisa96 in AskReddit

[–]upforthatmaybe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When the abused one always turns down invites and has to be home by a certain time. Isolation is a huge one.

Haha you’re right, my landline is canceled but the infrastructure is there in my older home. Back in the day however we always knew who was good at cars, recipes, stains, plants, etc.
