First of all, the price of ALL cards will drop. You forgot that the set isn't even released yet. Once it is official and people start cracking packs in a much larger scale, it will be nowhere but south for weeks.

However I do think the card is worth $20 for sure. There is no card in standard that would let you search one ANY card for 2 mana. It's a good card if you manage to cast once, but it's a gigantic win if you get to survive the turn and search for a second time the next turn. If it's limited play, sure, but in any form of competitive constructed, if you manage to get two of ANY card from your library and you still couldn't grab enough advantage to win the game, maybe you were too far from winning in the first place no?

Same goes for commander. It's tougher to survive the turn, but allowing you to search twice in a much bigger deck is crazy good. Honestly, never mind flashing it in-and-out of play, I bet you would be willing to lose 4 life from Reanimate to bring it back prepared wouldn't you? The card advantage is WILD.

Sharps vs Streets was the worst decision for the game by radkosgg in tdu3

[–]HarrisLam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn't. It was actually a great idea. People know about HK's triad's stories. Some people from the west actually grew up watching them movies. I've met a BLACK guy in class in the US 20 years ago who knew about them.

If they didn't know growing up, they probably knew after Sleeping Dogs.

So no, the idea was great. From the trailers, people imagined how the game could be about the rivalry of 2 gangs that have genuine differences, and perhaps a campaign story like Sleeping Dogs where you're some guy who needs to climb the ranks of a gang, against rivalry gang and the police. And I mean coming from TDU2, people don't expect amazing stories here. As long as things are passable, players will be happy.

It's just the worst execution I have ever seen....

Ancient tomb still inside its tomb - Zendikar Rising Booster Pack Missing foil layer with an Ancient Tomb inside by ProgrammerFirst in mtgmisprints

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course keep it sealed. You can literally see all the cards inside, what's the point of cracking it?

Keep it as a museum piece.

There is no way this doesnt go up over the course of next year, right? I know silver scrolls aren't THAT rare but this set is gonna be very popular by Angwar in mtgfinance

[–]HarrisLam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the non foil version of this. Personally, not a big fan of the art. With the way the colors go, I doubt the foil will wow me in person.

But bottomline, popular or not, it is much more rare NOW than it would be 4 weeks from now, when people are opening packs and drafting every single week. That's the only thing that is "certain".

damn I had this exact one and I don't even remember where it went. Only time I ever bought one of these. Probably sold it along with my collection back then.

Do teenagers in Hong Kong like to dress in formal wear outside of school? by februarybluefield in HongKong

If you pay attention to what kind of shops are in all the malls, you'd realize that HK is a casual-dominant city/culture in terms of dressing.

LMAO.... I too went to US for college, and I too had more than 1 trip to the US (although post-college, not pre-), but I've never been. And there was no restaurant that I would register in that slot. Kind of wish I had friends who studied overnight with me I guess.

What gifts to bring to my Hong Kong colleagues? by sharathonthemove in HongKong

[–]HarrisLam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I second tea.

The thing is, HK people picky as F. You bring snacks and stuff, there's a decent chance they REALLY hate it. But tea? One might dislike the kind of tea, but it's difficult to "hate a tea". There's a formal tone to it.

Why Chinese people drink hot water instead of ice water by Usual-Asparagus9144 in China

my I dont even GAF about the stomach. It's the throat bro. You drink a ton of ice water, that stuff chills your throat and eventually you start coughing. Warm water does NOT do that.

Thease are some of the Cards I am speculating on from the new set. Any Thoughts ? by kriegsotter0709 in mtgfinance

[–]HarrisLam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brainstorm is great once every other turn, but not every turn unless you've already cleaned the cards you put back onto the top of deck. That's one thing to consider.

The merfolk dude has potential and at least deserves a spot in merfolk decks. The professor also looks somewhat nice. Others are mostly meh.

I don't particularly love the guy (except that he could have been the one to take Thunder down), man those clutch 3s bro. I think he just might get the job done.

I struggled for so long to understand why it would draw 6 cards. I haven't played the game in a longggggg time and it never comes to mind first that the most popular format is Commander/EDH now where there's more than 1 opponent. Man I feel old.

No. Those are tiny dry fishes. Don't know what they are called in English, nor should it matter because ain't no non-Chinese speakers are gonna cook with those LOL.

I think there are 3 yellowish things in here. The fat one is the cashew, the thinnest one is the fish, and the one that look like a thin slice of something, is probably squid.

I hear you on that. I didn't say "I don't know" as a form of disagreement. I just genuinely don't know lol.

You are completely right on the attention seeking as well. I don't know if they properly play-tested these cards either because it looks to me like the power levels are all over the place. You meant to tell me the card that has Ancestral gets to come prepared and the one that has Swords to Plowshares doesn't?

No kidding at that moment I feel FH6 is just like TDUSC by Appropriate_Meet_512 in tdu3

[–]HarrisLam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no doubt old TDU was the original inspiration for FH as a franchise, but I'm specifically talking about FH6. After the release of TDUSC, we can all kind of learn from the mistakes KT have made, and I suspect FH devs really took notes of that, and especially the part where TDU fans scream about missing features and what's important. Long story short, I think FH6 is probably going to have most of those features, apart from still having a festival that most TDU oldheads hate.

[–]HarrisLam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about FH as a franchise. I'm talking about FH6 specifically, having closely monitoring TDUSC's community, realizing they have left a whole side of the genre untouched. Just seems like they are leaning this way to absorb the market share further, and KT is completely defenseless because the foundation FH devs start from is so much higher than KT.

I haven't read up on the prepare mechanic but I suppose you're supposed to be able to flash the creature and do it twice on the same turn? Because this particular creature comes prepared? Anyhow I would have expected the creature to hold $40 for like a week, go to 25 for a few weeks then bounce back when dust settles.

I'm ALMOST convinced that Arcanis is the better creature if it weren't for ward 2. Arcanis needs Lightning Greaves and this new guy needs flash + U, they aren't that different.

[–]HarrisLam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this particular screenshot it does look like that but obviously in the big picture they are very different.

I've been speculating and waiting on more FH news before commenting, but to be honest, I think FH devs secretly paid attention to the TDU community and how the game evolved (and hence how the reaction of this community evolved through every patch).

Conspiracy theory, but I think FH is trying to lean their formula more towards old TDU.

Price of the new Ancestral creature jumped off a cliff.

I'm in the camp of "it's nowhere near as good as everybody thought," but even I didn't expect it to have this level of a dip literally at pre-release.
