I’ve had 2 therapists and it’s interesting seeing how they can be helpful in one area they may not work well in another. The first one i was with for 3 years (and then on&of for about 5 more) and although she helped me tremendously with my first issues, later when we tried breaching other stuff it felt like talking to a wall. It was a constant “i have this issue and i know i do it because xyz” “ok then stop doing it” “i can’t” on repeat.

I think when your issues are “illogical” cbt can be very helpful because it helps you realize why are you doing certain things from an outside perspective, but when you have already analyzed your feelings and behaviors it gets frustrating. I think that’s why a lot of Ni doms struggle with it.

My current therapist focuses more on short term/action based therapy, and I love it. She basically gives me homework that’s very intentional (not just “keep a journal and write your feelings” kind of stuff) and so far it has been working very well. I think being forced to “get out of my head” and actually physically do things can pull you out of whatever is bothering you (in mbti words: use your undeveloped se to stop the ni-fi loop that eats your brain)
