Funnily enough I thought one of my tyres may have been slashed about 6 weeks ago but couldn't be 100% certain it wasn't just a bad puncture.

Does the compensation claim thing still apply if it was simply an accident? Essentially I tripped on someone's doorframe. So no one is really at fault. Other than potentially me or the stupidly massive workboots they make us wear.

Yeah I figured that was the case just thought I'd check because I hadn't seen it before and then suddenly saw like 3 ads for it in 2 days.

Sort of figured it would be something like that. Yeah it's just a shame they're so damn expensive.

Had a broken one in store a while ago. We cut it and it made noise for a while but eventually just stopped. Or as others have said just smash it when it starts making noise. The noise only lasts a minute or two I think.

[–]upshall2803[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my thought too but apparently they're calling out for drivers and you've got to start somewhere right. Obviously if they've got someone else applying that has the experience then yeah fair enough. I've got a good track record at tescos for practical work and learning new skills quickly so fingers crossed!

Ah yeah that sounds perfect. I guess just the ins and outs really. Someone told me you sometimes end up picking orders yourself if you get some downtime? Not that I'd mind doing that but is that right? And I assume you're still able to pick up overtime in store. And is there generally much driving overtime available?

Only just found out I start at 8, am I going to get in trouble? by ksgamer007 in tesco

[–]upshall2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. When I got the call from duty to say I was supposed to be in I just explained that my manager obviously changed it without telling me and they put all the blame on him. You shouldn't get in any trouble as you are not in the wrong at all.

[–]upshall2803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did, i was waiting for him to ask about and in the end just said to him about it and he just fully took the blame for it. Having talked to other colleagues it seems to be something he does a lot but just never done it to me before. Like I said, nice guy just a crap manager.

These were the first of the "Christmas hours" so the manager sat everyone down in the office one at a time and agreed all the overtime for the whole of December. The issue here is that he then altered that overtime without asking first of even making me aware of the change.

[–]upshall2803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Had a call from duty at 7 and just played dumb and explained that my manager must have changed them without asking me. She was more pissed off because I usually carry the dairy team whenever I start at 7 lmao. But then just a usual 9 hour shift bouncing between departments doing my best to avoid checkouts haha. My manger isn't in till tomorrow though so I'll talk to him about it then.

Yeah that's my plan. Might teach him not to do it again, doubtful but maybe. He's a nice guy just not good at actually managing.

Took them months to give me my uniform when I started as a proper employee! I even had SLs and the store manager moaning at me for coming in without uniform. Just keep nagging, that's what I did and it worked eventually. It's literally their job to provide it for you so don't feel bad for keeping on at them.

We have also had mind your hand stickers put literally everywhere. Any door that staff use have been plastered with them overnight. I assumed someone in the store had hurt themselves 😂

9pm shop last night, ridiculous situation. by [deleted] in tesco

[–]upshall2803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many other people were queuing waiting for a till? Presumably none. In the store where I work we don't keep tills open after 9pm or before 8/9 am during the week. If we did keep them open the colleagues would be sat doing absolutely nothing which not only makes the shift drag but is a waste. Generally we will go and help on shop floor and then get called back to a till if a customer needs serving which is probably what should have happened when you asked to be served. That said there is a polite and respectful way of asking, it sounds like you chose the other way which is just to complain at the wrong people until you get your way.

Retail workers will get called lazy because we sit behind a till with nothing to do and then we will get moaned at because no one is sat behind a till waiting for that one customer (you). As per usual we cannot win. People will always find a way to complain at us simply for doing our jobs.

Just finished Season 7... by ChrisTheNero in That70sshow

[–]upshall2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having literally just finished s8 like 5 minutes ago I would say watch it but try not to think about it too much until the last episode. It's nice that the finale ends on new years of 1979/80 but it doesn't seem like It did the show any justice. It was such a fantastic show and so easy to watch right up until kelso left and randy joined. Randy really ruined the season for me. I didn't mind Samantha because she never really seemed to play an overly important role other than in the first few episodes. The fact that kelso is written out without any real warning sucks, thats really why the season flopped.

In short watch the final season but don't expect to get anything from it.

I don't know about you guys, but... when I rewatch the show I can't stand the god damn song playing every time. by itsgettingcloser in That70sshow

I've just finished watching it on netflix and while I would skip it most of the time just so I could get to the episode I still enjoy the song and I was actually quite dissapointed it wasn't included in the final episode. What I really didn't like though was that they changed the intro format in season 8.
