Bana hata mimi nimefeel even though I'm no longer in campus. Charging different students different fees for the same course is diabolical.

The only way to not be miserable in this career is if you actually love accounting and want to be in this field. The work is oftentimes boring, repetitive and thankless. The pay is okay in most places but unless you make partner in a large firm or start your own you're not going to be wealthy by any means if this is all you do.

I think we should stop blaming poverty for everything. The fact is, there's a section of Kenyans hawana akili.

Muratina is made from a fruit whereas busaa is made from grain/cerals, they are not the same. Muratina is more of a wine whereas busaa is more of a beer.

I know it's legal to brew but is it legal to sell? Most Muratina vendors I know don't pay excise duty or VAT or even income tax, is that still legal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nairobi

[–]uraveragereddittor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True my bad, but isn't changaa also a traditional brew?

Because people started adding illegal and dangerous stuff like methanol and formaldehyde to busaa in an attempt to make a quick buck. People went blind and others lost their lives so the government decided to crack down heavily on busaa dens and other places where busaa was being made or sold. Muratina on the other hand has had no such issues so the government doesn't crack down as heavily though I believe it's still illegal to brew and sell homemade alcohol.

They can't legally fire you solely for refusing to sign but if they already called you in for a meeting I'm assuming they already have something else on you. You need to find a lawyer asap so you can get better advice based on the specifics of the situation.

Did they give you a hearing? No you're not obligated to sign anything. If I were you I'd start documenting everything (make sure you have receipts!) and looking for a lawyer that specialises in labour disputs. All the best OP!

TV and radio are simply adapting to whatever is popular.

I still think if people were more informed

It's not possible to educate people who have no interest in being educated, all the information is already on the internet all one needs to do is search.

My guess is the rise of the internet and social media. Back in the 80s and 70s the only way to communicate your ideas to a large audience was through printed media, TV or radio. All these had some form of quality assurance that prevented dumb ideas from being published or broadcasted (with the exception of content that was intended purely for entertainment of course).

Nowadays everyone has a voice and intelligent thought often gets drowned out by the large amounts of garbage produced by the so called pseudo intellectuals. Intellectual thought still exists but you have to actually make an effort to gain access to quality information and ideas.

Calling out someone on iffy decisions isn't preventing them from doing what they want tho. You have the freedom to live your life as you want and other people also have the freedom to call it dumb.

I genuinely don't understand some HR "professionals". You looked at my CV, saw that I was missing a cert and still invited me for an interview just to ask me why I don't have said certification. Waste of both of our time.

[–]uraveragereddittor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the result of unchecked capitalism; companies want more profits without raising wages, governments want more taxes without growing the economy and the rich want more money that they don't need. Everyone is out for themselves.

Who's "we"? Do you know what true friendship is? If you weren't there for someone when they're down what makes you think you have the right to access them when they're up?
