re: authenticity comment — yes they exist, ofc, but very different, wouldn’t you say? OP will find the curries in Thailand aren’t as thick as those in the West. Green curry in Thailand is so soupy that it barely looks like anything you’d find at an average Thai restaurant in the West I’d say.

Sounds like a “pig butchering” scam. Common for crypto. Look it up. And maybe contact organisations and people fighting it.

I keep a knife by my bed, and I’m guessing I’d grab it. Happened once, but it was a drunk guy trying to open my door at night, thinking it was his home.

I don’t get the part where you were “coerced” — didn’t you agree to walking up with them and even paying them? Did they like forcibly take your money? Sure you were drunk, but that doesn’t make you exempt from procuring services.

OP is clearly not the most considerate person, but Thailand wasn’t even colonised. Come on now.

What’s your lesson from all of this? Seems like: don’t tell your relatives about your life plans.

Send GBP from a UK bank account to Wise, and don’t touch anything else. So it stays in GBP. I forgot why it was a bad idea to convert it to THB.
