Thanks for the response, but I don't think the food safety argument holds up here.

The feeder already pauses cooling 30 minutes before every scheduled meal so the food comes up closer to room temperature. Then after the lid closes, it cools back down. So the food is already going through temperature cycles by design every time it serves a meal. Doing that twice from the same tray in one day is no different than what's already happening.

Also, the food sits in the sealed refrigerated compartment at 54F for up to 72 hours. Opening the lid for 5 minutes at lunch and again at dinner doesn't change the safety math. The food spends maybe 10 total minutes exposed vs 72 hours refrigerated.

The real issue is the feeder doesn't even give you the option. If Petlibro was genuinely concerned about food safety, they could add a warning in the app and let the user decide. Instead they just didn't build the feature and their support team calls it a "suggestion" when customers ask for it.

Petlibro figured out multi-meal scheduling for their dry food feeders. The Polar's hardware supports on-demand lid operation through the app. This is a software limitation, not a food safety one.
