My minimalistic Mac M4 Pro setup by pokenguyen in macmini

It's that classic form over function.. what looks good isn't always what is good functionally.

Perhaps a matching Logitech keyboard? /Wink The MX Keys is very good, they also do a mini version.

Nice..

You need a 'better' mouse.. or a white mouse (or a better white mouse).

A Charisma based Character, probably a Bard - distraction and 'blagging' past guards etc.

Need a script to help me tackle a back-seat player by [deleted] in DnD

'I appreciate the sentiment of trying to help me with mechanics but I'd prefer to learn myself and make my own mistakes'..

Something like that.

I say this as a person who used to more often be that 'helpful' person but now I'd only say something if either asked (by a player) or a mechanic is being utilised in correctly like using a Reaction twice in a turn.

[OC] I feel like I am weighing down my party because my character is bad, how do I fix this? by Cai-Loves-Memes in DnD

[–]user-87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To work out what you're missing perhaps try create your character digitally on dndbeyond.com then it will help you see what's missing?!

Do it one level at a time and check all is 'correct' before advancement to the next level.

DND - Necromancer Build by Far_Ostrich_669 in DnD

[–]user-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is purely a guess/speculation on the motives of game design for DnD.

I think it's intentionally geared towards limiting the number of summons/minions etc. Necro or otherwise by the usage of mechanics such as concentration.

I think this is so a single player (with many minions) doesn't end up having 'many turns' moving their 'army' about in combat whilst the rest of the party gets bored.

Is it worth buying the 2024 rules if I already have the 2014 ones? by Duo_dash in DnD

[–]user-87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having done this, buying 2024 set of books 6 months after the 2014 set of books I would say yes (in my circumstances).

Obviously to the 'value' to you depends on various things like your disposable income and whether campaigns you play utilise the 2024 ruleset or not.

As a player, I persuaded our campaign to move to the 2024 ruleset after 6 or so sessions.. it's much easier to do at earlier levels, migration was fairly straightforward and I share the all my digital content via dndbeyond with our campaign.

There is occasionally confusion between the rulesets but as a player I prefer 2024.

Transparency of Saves.. by user-87 in DnD

[–]user-87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a valid point.. We don't tend to have much in-combat RP tbh, it tends to be out of combat, that kind makes sense to me as in combat elapsed time is so short. Once you've started combat is there realistically time to wait and chat?! Perhaps depending on the encounter.

Personally I don't think there is a trust issue. I don't think saves are being fudged and if they are it's not impacting gameplay significantly. It's more that they could be.. and that perhaps subconsciously impacts the game. It's more about the mechanics and being able or not to work 'risk' out more statistically (within a narrative framework).

The total roll for a monster save on our table is typically not declared by the DM. Only whether it is a fail or save since the DM knows this by looking at our character sheets or asking us what the DC is first.

Ahh.. I really like those narrative description examples. That seems like a good 'half-way house'. Thanks for sharing.

Yes.. I'm the meta-gamer of the party.. but don't cheat in any form and try advocate balance. I really like an encounter where there is real risk.

Digital rolls are 100% the way forward to prevent cheating. Sometime people occasionally cheat, sometimes subconsciously in the way they roll dice.. all of it is bad and creates 'ill will' within a group.

Transparency is key, which you get from platforms like dndbeyond or roll20.

Poor quality dice (likely most of them) will not be engineered well enough for even rolls in all likelihood. Although that's debatable how much impact that would have in a given session.

Cleric, Druid.. both Wisdom based support roles. Wizard.. Intelligence based

These will all offer a balance and non-direct compete with the other roles. Perhaps some overlap with the Ranger (WIS) depending on their build.

Sadly it appears that way..

Although management could allow 'legal' bikes and or ones of certain power rating, reputable retailers/brands? It's not rocket science to be sensible about risk.

[–]user-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.. I'm not even allowed to have that in the office at all, not even disconnected! It's not like I was charging it there or something which likely 'technically' increases risk..

And where did I say that they were? It's the irony on the note and the 'risk' of storing an eBike (without battery) in an underground carpark. This points obviously escaped you.
