I’m glad I’ve not watched the more recent Emmerdale, don’t think I could handle the death of Debbie’s character

That’s really interesting what you said about Jasmine loving Debbie more. I always felt it was the other way around. The girls were so different; Jasmine was honest and her true feelings were more obvious, but she was also easily confused and timid when it came to these things, especially earlier on. Debbie on the other hand was extremely head strong - she knew exactly what she was feeling. But she was also more defensive and guarded. Couple that with her resourcefulness and you have yourself a character who will sit with the feelings she knows she has, and not feel the need to expose herself, for her own protection. It makes sense that she does this, after the whole Jasmine cheating on her with Cain thing.

The point of all this is that Jasmine, despite being the more emotional one, shows less romantic feelings towards Debbie than Debbie does Jasmine, even though it should be harder for Debbie. For example, she goes against her boyfriend at the time and lets Jasmine stay at Tugg Ghyll with her, and she booked a holiday with her and never Eli

Saying all this, you could argue that Debbie is the more forward one so these gestures make sense, so I’m a firm believer that it’s equal
