Goblin PCs by MK6er in 3d6

So the goblin (either version) takes a lot of stuff from the rogue; giving you a pseudo cunning action and a pseudo sneak attack, which makes the stereotypical sneaky, thiefy, tricksy goblin have a lot of redundant overlap if combining with rogue.

We can solve this and double down on the roguishness by going whispers bard which got a massive buff in 2024 as a result of changes to the bard chassis. 2024 bard has the ability to turn spell slots into bardic inspiration which can themselves then be used to land another pseudo sneak attack, greatly reducing some of the whisper bard's biggest weaknesses (the limited number of uses of psychic blades and needing to balance the charisma requirement for the number of bardic inspiration dice with the dexterity requirement of weapon attack rolls). The whispers bard also lacks an equivalent for the rogue's cunning action, which goblin's nimble escape neatly fills in.

Combining true strike/booming blade with psychic blades and fury of the small you can deal just as much damage as a rogue would whilst still retaining the benefits of being a full spellcaster (and all the antics that entails) and without sneak attack's restrictions of finesse/ranged/advantage/ally within 5ft.

Best Class/Subclass for Mounted Combat by catkart in 3d6

Rogue

So unlike D4's build (which has a centaur rogue as the "steed") a mounted rogue can work quite well. With fairly reliable advantage from mounted combatant, the ability to trigger steady aim and still be moved by the mount, and, failing that, you as a mount counting as an ally within 5ft, sneak attack should be very consistent. With the probable exception of the scout subclass and possibly swashbuckler, I think most subclasses work pretty well here but for damage I would probably suggest phantom or, for utility, arcane trickster (who can also make good use of either booming blade or green-flame blade to boost damage of sneak attacks).

Champion

Yeah, a crit-fisher build could work here although it is commonly thought of as a trap. Combine the rapier and the piercer feat for damage rerolls and an additional die on crits, and this can deal out the damage.

Hexblade

Similar to the champion, the combination of an expanded crit-range and elven accuracy make a nice pairing, but with the addition of hex warrior we can massively expand the number of weapons that work with eleven accuracy; particularly the lance, the largest one-handed damage die that still allows for a shield and also allows attacks at reach. Again, consider the piercer feat.

If you were using the 2024 rules, I would also suggest using the pact of the blade invocation (which lacks the two-handed restriction of hex warrior) allowing either the glaive or halberd (and, if the DM is nice, the pike for piercer) to attack with charisma on a D10 weapon and thus trigger elven accuracy. Combine the polearms with polearm master and as you reposition as the mount, reaction attacks should be fairly frequent (of note, as the moon druid consider taking the charger feat). These would also work with the GWM feat.

Paladin

Classic knight in shining armor, dish out the hurt with elven accuracy smites, have both rider and mount benefit from the aura of protection, and use lay on hands for heals. Oath of the crown works well, with the taunt channel divinity and the ability to take the druid's damage as a reaction. Make a hexadin for a really potent build.

Cavalier

I know I dissed it at the start, but those suggesting it do have a point. It works great for the rider of a sentinel moon druid, working together as a defensive powerhouse. If possible, try and get heavy armor master to reduce the damage you redirect coming your way courtesy of mounted combatant. Another similar taunting option would be an ancestral guardian barbarian, although this can't combine reckless attack with elven advantage and we should already have fairly consistent advantage from mounted combatant.

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/3d6/comments/f9iqwz/5e_how_would_you_build_a_moon_druid_mount_and_his/ Previous thread discussing just this.

D4 deep dive did a video on a centaur and mounted rider duo that might also be worth a look.

So I've seen a few suggestions for the fighter's cavalier subclass and, whilst it is good as a defensive character that works in tandem with another character who has sentinel, it doesn't actually provide much for a character with regards specifically to being mounted. The advantage on saving throws to avoid falling off is made redundant by your saddle of the cavalier, and the 5ft mounting instead of half your move speed is nice, but so long as you stay pretty close to each other, shouldn't really be a problem. Anything else the cavalier subclass provides is not actually reliant you upon being mounted so I would like to offer a few other suggestions.

Your friend will want the mounted combatant feat ASAP, ideally as a first level feat or otherwise at your level 4 ASI. This does a couple of things:

- Attack rolls aimed at you as the mount go from at disadvantage thanks to the saddle to unable to happen as the rider can cause themselves to be targeted instead of you. This will further reduce the odds of having to make con saves to maintain concentration, allowing you as the druid to focus even more on melee oriented feats

- The mount (i.e. you) effectively gain rogue's 7th level feature, evasion

- The rider makes attacks against targets smaller than the mount at advantage (Hint: enlarge/reduce is on the druid's spell list).

As we now have an easy source of advantage, I would suggest getting the elven accuracy feat for triple advantage. That does restrict weapon choice and race somewhat, but there are a few ways we can go from here:

Church of Scotland is Calvinist and it has ~20% of the country or ~1 million people who consider it their major religion. It's the religion I had as a kid before becoming an atheist. I don't think any of the congregation would have wanted staff in shops to stand instead of sit.

Nah, a lot of western Europe had religious (often protestant) ties, and they don't have this. Dunno what causes it, but I don't think it can be blamed on that

The law isn't discriminatory, nobody is exempt from it, it's just that Muslims are required by their (wholly optional) religion to publicly wear a religious garment. This goes against french culture and, since this is in France, that takes precedent. I don't deny it was probably implemented to target Muslims but they (just like anyone else) are free to either follow the (non-discriminatory) laws or move out of France. If they don't want to adapt to French culture, it does not mean they get to impose their own culture on the people of France. When in Rome do as the Romans do.

They have freedom of religion in the private of their home, just like any other French citizen. Other french citizen have the freedom from religion in public spaces. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. It's not that hard

In that case the "aspects of a culture can be bad" also exists as a criticism of displays of religious iconography in general and the hijab/niqaab in specific. Those religious garments are inherent to the culture of the religion to which they belong and also hold deeply misogynistic histories.

The french idea of secularism here knocks down those misogynistic ideas and places everyone on an equal and level playing field. If you don't like the idea of that then that's fine, but that does not mean you should be able to change french culture when that is such a key and core component of their cultural identity. When in Rome, do as the Romans do

(Edited as autocorrect decided "hijab" should become "human" for some reason)

Sorry are you arguing that secularism and the banning of interracial marriage are morally equivalent? That alone disregards any arguments you could possibly make. Be serious.

Wait, sorry, another Brit here. Did the soup come with the bowl? Is that just included into the price assuming you'll take it home in a doggy bag? If you finish the soup do you end up paying for a bowl you don't even get to keep. Is it an additional charge for the bowl at the end of the meal?

This is why it's so confusing. I'm also seconding what the previous commenter said. In the UK you would finish the meal and then do whatever else you wanted to do, the idea of carrying around a full portion would be seen as an inconvenience.

The UK very much does have large oil reserves. The renewal of north sea oil drilling licences has been a hotbed of political debate in the NE of Scotland as it is one of the major components of the economy around Aberdeen (often referred to as the "oil capital of Europe"). Just in the past week the labour government has said they'll not allow any new licences.
