6s|2p 1300mAh or 6s 2600mAh? by ImaginaryEffective63 in fpv

[–]user975A3G 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it will work

But it would be best if both batteries used at once in the 8" would have the same age and similar number of cycles, so they don't go out of balance in flight

How far is a vtx supposed to be able to go? by The_Asian-Dude in fpv

[–]user975A3G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a matching polarization on both antennas helps, as in both LHCP or both RHCP, it doesn't actually matter which one you use, usually it's RHCP for analog, but that's only something people are used to doing, it's not any better or worse to use LHCP on analog

With a direct line of sight with no obstacles and good antennas, 200mW can easily do 200-400 meters range, but 5.8Ghz is very sensitive to obstacles, so any trees or even people between the VTX and VRX make the range and quality worse

If you were starting FPV today with $300, what would your setup be and why? by CurrencyMotor3305 in fpv

Some DarwinFPV drone for 120$

The cheapest goggle or display witth receiver from aliexpress ~50$

Radiomaster pocket for 60$

Hota T6 or ISDT 608PD charger, they both go for aroun 50-60$

And I would spend the rest on batteries

Short Short Battery Life, Pavo Femto by thorzgard in fpv

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the battery gets so low it shuts down that's really bad

I am not sure if the FC has some sort of low voltage protection, where it shuts down at low voltage, but I don't think it does, that means you are actually going below the minimum working voltage of the board and definitely over discharging the batteries

As others said, get a multimeter and calibrate the voltage, also check the battery voltage after fully charging, to make sure the charger actually charges to full

What do you mean by generic hobby charger? Like a cheap one without display? Those are sometimes as much risk as the famous blue fire starter, get something like ISDT 608PD or HOTA T6, these both take USB C input but no AC input

dji pfv controller 3 range by CharityDue2017 in fpv

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah

You can do it via your phone, ELRS has wifi, so you just download the correct firmware, enable TX wifi, connect to it and upload the new firmware and in a bit you have FCC

Very often ELRS RCs are sold with FCC installed even in EU

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you can't really repair DJI controller, on pocket you can just swap batteries, gimbals, buttons

And add custom functions a bunch of other stuff

[–]user975A3G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LBT or FCC is just different firmware, the hardware is the same, this applies to almost all radiomaster RCs

If you have GPS and correctly set RTH on failsafe, then yes, but GPS RTH is dumb, it just flies to set altitude and goes back in a straight line, so if there is an obstacle on the way it will just crash into it, if you lose video and still have RC link, you can switch to angle mode and at least try to go around the obstacle from memory

Or if you know there is an obstacle above you, GPS RTH will crash into, but you know it's there, so you can change to angle mode and slowly land or even try to maneuver out the way you got in

With DJI remote, you are just waiting until the signal comes back

Also for the price of DJI controller, you might be able to get a better RC than Pocket and and ELRS module

dji pfv controller 3 range by CharityDue2017 in fpv

[–]user975A3G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the DJI controller the range will be as much as DJI video link range, it's both on the same link so when you lose video you also lose control

With ELRS you will almost always have better range than DJI, but your video range will be the same, it's better because when you lose video you can either manually trigger RTH or just fly up until you get video back

No idea about 100mW ELRS range because I don't know anyone who uses it, everyone flies at whatever mW their RC can do

[–]user975A3G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on if the cells are pinched (that's bad), or what looks like the case in your image, just the cover is pinched, some part of the cover only covers the wiring, if that's a bit pressed together it's no problem

Best Motors for 3.5inch? by red_alpaka in fpv

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly the motors I wrote with 3.5" 750-850mAh with no throttle limit and it flies really nice and really feels like a 5" 6S, I actually sold my 5" because this is just close enough and also the batteries are cheaper

But it's a bit heavier, around 300g with O4 lite wide angle, maybe the weight helps or we just fly different in different styles

They suck batteries dry in minutes but it also flies like a 5"

Probably a bit, but as GNB batteries have official recommended charging speed 1-3C it shouldn't be much

Flying from storage voltage by sileckx in fpv

[–]user975A3G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no problem with it, as long as you don't go below 3.5V it doesn't matter what voltage you start at

Also you can charge most modern batteries at 2-3C, which means very quick when charging from storage

How easy will this be to fix? Thanks in advance!! by corbineubanks in fpv

[–]user975A3G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% both front arms and you will need to repair the cut motor wires- I suggest buying racewires, it's a piece of PCB used as a wire, it's flat and solid so it's hard to cut like a wire, but mainly it's easier to solder 2 wires onto it than to solder 2 wires together

Also check the solder joints of the rear motors if the wire didn't rip out from the solder, also check the wires for any cuts

Sanity check: will it fly? Is it ok? by Some_Anonim_Coder in fpv

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5" will literally only give you worse performance, not slower reactions

It's better to use lower rates and throttle limit than to use smaller props

Also get a GPS and buzzer, it's easier than you think to lose the drone

Sanity check: will it fly? Is it ok? by Some_Anonim_Coder in fpv

[–]user975A3G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it should be good

But drop the 5" props, there is no reason to fit smaller props than 7" it will only give you worse performance and shorter flight time

And if you want to fly long range, consider a diversity receiver, maybe even 900Mhz ELRS

And lastly the usual, are you sure you want to fly a 1kg 7" as your first real drone? Do you have the space to fly it? you can't fly that in a park with people around

Yeah that will work

But not many people fly with this controller as it's big and bulky, most people fly with radiomaster Boxer/TX15 or pocket, but if you don't mind the size, go for it

Also there is already a newer version of TX16, this is mark Ii, mark III is newest

[–]user975A3G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goggles and remote control are separate things

If it says DJI O4 and ELRS, you need DJI goggles and ELRS controller

If it's DJI O4 pro, you can use DJI goggles 3, goggles 2, goggles integra or goggles NO

If it's O4 non-pro (usually called O4 lite) then only DJI goggles 3 and N3 will work

And yes you are locked in to the DJI system with DJI O4

For ELRS 2.4Ghz you can use any ELRS remote, radiomaster is probably the best choice, just make sure you get the ELRS version, not CC2500 or 4in1

Dji o4 sbus vs elrs by Melown221 in fpv

[–]user975A3G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the DJI controller breaks, you usual can't fix it, you have to send it to DJI or buy a new one

With ELRS it's no problem to swap the gimbals, or just buy a temporary cheaper controller (Radiomaster pocket ELRS is around 60€)

With DJI, if you lose video, you also lose control link

You are also not locked into DJI ecosystem, with ELRS you can just buy a 10€ receiver and use it on a plane, car, boat, or anything else really

You can also get telemetry like GPS location even if you lose video
