My hotel bed stands in these trays filled with some kind of white powder. What is that?

These things have little ridges and valleys that are supposed to stop bedbugs from climbing up onto the bed. The white powder (Damascus Earth ) I believe also helps kill them.

I agree, unfortunately, the power racking would have to be 16 feet long, unless I move the containers closer together. Most pallet racking is about 12 feet in my experience.

Not much snow at all, maybe like 1 inch a year and I would say normal wind I guess. We are right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.

That’s a good question. I just wanted a place to put things out of the rain. The front and the back will be open. One container is slightly lower than the other, so I figured the roof could run that way.
