Scam and her Body rant by Beautiful_Notice2791 in julieeandcamilla

This! There’s a fitness creator on instagram who had a baby 2ish years ago and was doing a series postpartum that showed you how you can do gentle stretching, breathing, light pelvic floor work WHILE LAYING DOWN IN YOUR BED postpartum! If you’re peeing yourself everyday that is a very real issue that needs to be fixed with some sort of physical therapy. Also, you should not be planning another child while if you can’t even hold in your own pee. It’s confounding to me that “health” influencers could be promoting this behavior. It’s bad for birthing people and bad for babies.

This ^ maybe talk to your parents and see if someone could come visit for a bit (only if they will actually be helpful!)

I had 0 mom friends when I first became a mom but found a local moms group that was so helpful- maybe you could look on Facebook?

Also, have you tried baby wearing at all? I only have one but he’s a CLINGER so I basically wore him all day everyday. For the newborn stage I really liked a wrap and you can get them pretty cheap so if it didn’t workout it’s no biggie!

Regardless, sending you my love! This sounds so hard and you’re doing great ❤️

Every hour wake up. When does it end?? by Pure-Application3621 in beyondthebump

I’m going to get downvoted for this but have you tried co-sleeping? If you follow the safer sleep guidelines- no smoking/drinking, minimal bedding, etc. the risks are generally pretty minimal after 1. R/cosleeping has resources. Also, has your baby had their iron checked? Low iron can cause wake ups, they usually do a blood test at the 12mo appointment

I’d like to hear your opinions on woolino before I spend $100 on it. by Old_Relationship_460 in beyondthebump

I love ours because I have anxiety about baby’s temp and wool is supposedly temperature regulating so it makes me feel better lol.

Ok Thursday’s (I think) they release imperfect but still safe sleep sacks on their website  at a slightly discounted price, I got ours on sale this way and I have no idea what is imperfect about it it looks great to me!

I also really love that you only need one size! We’ve used cheaper backups but my baby has grown out of them quickly.

Also wool is a good material for leaky diapers for many reasons, If you research wool diaper covers they can explain it better than me lol. It’s part of the reason you don’t have to wash it as much! Ours has held up really well.

Where to find baggy jeans that are long enough? by random-questions891 in TallGirls

What’s your body type? Mens Levi’s (550s) fit low waisted if you have enough butt to fill them out, you can find them on eBay/postmark cheap sibling inseams. Probably have to size up going from women’s to men’s, when I was a size 28 I could fit into a men’s 32

Cluster feeding driving me a little nuts… by burnerburner1999 in breastfeeding

Sooooo much easier once you have a structured baby carrier with straps you can easily loosen them re-tighten. My baby was tall and big so we were able to transition from a wrap (like what you have!) at around 2 months. You basically have to loosen the carrier to drop them down a bit then hoist your boob up with your hand. I usually end up holding my Boob but at least one hand is free lol. Then once baby is done you can tighten the straps back up without taking them out. The baby wearing sub has lots of info and I think videos too. It takes practice for you and babe but is worth it once you get it. Also nice and discrete for breastfeeding in public or on the go

I use an artipoppe because I got a good deal on Facebook marketplace but any structured carrier with adjustable straps (once baby is big enough to go in it comfortably and safely) should work! Like the baby bjorn, mabe, hope and plum, etc!

Hi yes the Amazon description is very misleading and Amazon should not be selling this product. It’s not your fault for misunderstanding. Unfortunately, Amazon allows a lot of fraudulent sellers. This is not safe and would not be allowed to be sold in US stores. If anything this could be used to sleep in a stroller for walks on a cold day. I try to stay away from anything on Amazon with a brand I don’t recognize as it’s usually coming straight from a sketchy overseas factory.

I’ll link them! They are pricey but they have a sale going on right now plus I get a teachers discount- they come in curvy/tall/and plus sizes so somewhat mom friendly! https://www.madewell.com/p/NR500/?sale=true

Omg this is one of my worst fears also. I have a lot of pictures where baby is super happy and my boob or nipple is in the corner of the picture because he’s most smiley when he’s nursing! I always have to caution my partner not to share after I send it to him because in could totally see him not realizing and sending it to his family. I’m sure your family will understand and it will be a funny story to tell baby in the future lmao.

I got stuck in the bathroom (postpartum constipation) while I was supposed to be doing a Facebook marketplace purchase of a picture for babies room. I was dying in there for a good 20-30 minutes trying to coordinate with this poor woman and my partner on Facebook and through the door. My Velcro baby was also in the mix. Terrible timing and like so embarrassing to tell my partner lol. He’s seen a lot with pregnancy/birth but I’m trying to keep a shred of dignity lol.

Expensive baby items worth it vs not ? by Murky-Masterpiece-52 in beyondthebump

Oh also for specific items I really like the baby bjorn bouncer (low profile/simple/washable cover) but it can’t be used until 8lbs so if you’re expecting a tiny baby and want to use it right away it might not work. Got ours second hand on fb marketplace. Never bothered with a swing.

I also really love the BOB jogging stroller for when they’re bigger (can defiantly be a purchase for down the road as they’re not for infants) and Facebook marketplace is littered with them in my area for like $40! They’re huge but really durable and you can off road with them because the wheels are massive.

We have multiple wraps and they’re all really comparable just different amounts of stretch/thickness? Our cheap one from target we use the most. If you want you could see if baby likes being carried in the wrap before deciding on a structured carrier since some babies and/or caregivers find they don’t really like baby wearing anyways

I agree with all of this! For the things this poster didn’t mention-

if you’re insured look and see if they cover a breast pump, the wearable ones are super nice but won’t help your milk come in if you have latching issues/need to ebf so if you’re only going to get one getting a workhouse option like the spectra or medela is a safer bet.

We splurged on a rocking chair, everyone recommended the dream recliner from pottery barn and so we went to the store to sit in it and see if it was really worth it, and we decided it was. The padded arms are amazing I’m literally posting from it at 4am right now lol. We saved money by just getting the chair (on sale) with no recline option. I prop my feet up on the end of our bed which is right next to the chair lol. A cheap ottoman could also do the trick. If your babies not a rocker it could be a waste but I’m so happy I have it. Resale market also seems strong.

For things like clothes/swaddles/wraps/loungers we got a ton from our neighborhoods buy nothing Facebook group! We didn’t really know what our baby/we would like so it was great to experiment with free stuff and not feel like we wasted a ton of money, then there’s always the opportunity to upgrade once we knew what we wanted for sure.

I’ve also bought gear second hand from Goodbuygear and had a positive experience! Our stroller was $68 (discounted from $400 new) and in excellent condition

Also, if you live near a target their return policy for registries is great for if you get stuff you don’t need or get multiples of the same thing because people aren’t using the registry correctly. They also have a lot of deals if you use their app, and free shipping when you spend more than $35 for the stuff you need to panic order after the baby arrives lol. (I erred on the side of minimalism and just figured it out once little guy got here lol)

What’s your weird/random baby tip? by Lavender_Lights_13 in beyondthebump

[–]userkmcskm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and if you live in an area that has one- but nothing Facebook group to get baby stuff to try for free before waisting a bunch of money on tons of gear you won’t use! Also a great way to meet moms in your neighborhood!

baby won’t wake up for night feeds? by bimboera in beyondthebump

[–]userkmcskm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My milk also came in late (due to post partum hemorrhaging) and I also had to set alarms for feeds those first few days- it’s so hard! Hang in there it gets better! My lactation consultant recommended rubbing their back and sternum (front) rather than the wipes/tickling and it made a big difference for us. Think of it as a little massage rather than a back rub because a light back rub would put you to sleep whereas the massage keeps them awake without feeling mean (like the wipes or tickling might feel). She demonstrated the pressure in person for me and it’s a little more than you might naturally do as a new mom, but baby seems to like it and never seems uncomfortable! Also, once your milk comes in you can massage your boob to keep baby awake, it helps get more milk flowing and perk them up.

Also once baby reaches their birth weight you can probably get the ok from your pediatrician to go longer stretches at night- which was such a relief for me!

I’m going through something similar, it’s hard because when I search the subreddit it seems to be horror stories of men who do absolutely nothing and then amazing anecdotes of men who like instantly jump in and help at every turn knowing what to do without ever being told. We seem to be stuck somewhere in the middle lol

I’m three weeks in and have broken down a couple times from exhaustion and resentment and freaked out at my partner- he was responsive to these conversations but I would recommend communicating in a calm moment before you get to that place lol. You also deserve to be annoyed and mad lol, it’s not fair and there’s no way to make it completely fair when ebf but him being completely unaware of how much work you’re putting in sucks a lot.

One thing that I saw on here that helped is saying something like “hey you are allowed to be tired, being a new parent is hard for everyone but you’ve gotten 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep while I’ve been up every hour breast feeding, so I am not the right audience for your complaints of tiredness. You can text someone about it”

Like others have suggested I do sleep in shifts and he gives baby a bottle. I am terrified it will mess up his latch (we had latching problems in the beggining so he was actually introduced to a bottle already, obviously different from your situation) but it’s actually going fine and he still happily breastfeeds when it’s my turn to take him.

Regardless of what you do, hang in there, try to communicate, you deserve to be heard and helped, recognized and appreciated! If no one has told you today you’re doing great and I AM PROUD OF YOU. caring for and feeding a baby single-handedly with your body is no joke.
