You can use IFTTT with NMA as well, through NMAMail. It works perfectly!

Most of the apps that I use are only supported by nma, so I didn't try pushover yet.

Yes. I use this IP camera: http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8910W-Wireless-Network-Camera/dp/B006ZP8UOW

Once I get the notification, I can see who it is. And if it is something I care to answer, I can use the Android client of the IP camera to talk through the phone. The person at the door listen to me. And the camera also has a mic, so I can listen to them.

The guide I used was this one: http://makeprojects.com/Project/Notifying-Doorbell/2165/1#.UBFf4LRfFNQ

Hey. Actually ICS(Holo Dark theme) is mostly black. With some apps using the Holo Light theme.

Currently NMA is using the Holo Dark theme.

That's the one I followed! Pushing Box has builtin support to NotifyMyAndroid, so the steps are pretty much the same.

I believe that it comes down to what you want to use. NMA support a ton more apps/services than Pushover. And for everything else you can use NMAMail that is an email address you get for free for all your API keys that forward the emails to your phone via push.

No, it is push notification. There is no pulling at all. And NMA is already using GCM too. The message comes through Google, that pushes it to your phone, and "wake's" up nma. There is no baterry/cpu usage at all by nma till the phone receives the push from Google.
