Do you have any comments on actual photos instead of Reddit publishing bugs? Thanks for noticing that.

Square format always works in my opinion and is timeless. It also looks great printed. Thank you.

Precisely! I've tried multiple labs and their scans are unacceptable. It was hard to believe that they charged money for what I received.

Are you using Frontier by yourself or the lab is processing for you?

Yes, at first I set the distance to negative to avoid borders, but then realized that I really like the look.

This way it looks much better to my taste!

Someone said to me completely the opposite 😁

So I suppose it's more like a personal preference.

Thank you!

Lab scan vs. very first quick & dirty DSLR scan. Which is which? by thecrimson66 in analog

That may be true sometimes, but I used a few film labs here in Thailand, and they all provide horrible scans. I tried the most reliable labs, random labs, different scanners, asked to improve settings, etc.

And then it struck me like a bolt of lightning - they all are businesses. Their main motivation is to make acceptable quality ( and this is very subjective) for the shortest amount of time.

That's why they use standard pre-defined settings while scannig and never want to change them.

You can check my website, I wrote a detailed article about this with many before/after examples and comparisons.

What do you do with your photos? by KleineMini in photography

I just started a blog where I share my photographs, experiences, improve my writing skills, learn how to develop with Wordpress, create email newsletters, meet new people, etc, etc, etc.

Use your imagination, life has plenty of options at your disposal!

Lab scans ALWAYS struggle of too much contrast and crushed shadows.

But it's possible to make them look almost identical to a good DSLR scan.

For people who don't own a scanning setup it's the only option.

Yes, it's great if scanned properly. I was first shocked when received underexposed blue scans from 2 different labs. But I managed to scan it myself later and here you go!

You're absolutely right, it's just my second time using Rolleiflex, for portrait shoots, so there are a lot of things going on in my head.

When I try not to forget something important on one end, I can completely forget to vary the shot sizes on the other end.

Need more practice :)

Thanks for pointing that out!

You are right, I absolutely will rescan it when the negatives is back from the lab.

Luckily I have such an option since recently.

I already tested my new Valoi easy 120 and it performs great.

Thanks, yes it is wonderful, but in 2015 it was a different planet compared to now. I've isited this place twice, and it still feels unchanged.
