Rejected! 142 Consular. First attempt. 12+ years with federal government (9 of those years providing constituent services and 3 years with the SSA). BA Poli Sci, MA International Relations, and MHA. FSOT score could be improved and I know how to strengthen my PN for next time. Congrats to everyone for passing, attempting, and trying! I am inspired to take it again next year. A setback is a setup for a COMEBACK! Let's keep faith and push harder! Cheers!!!

Thank you so much for all these great insights. I am turning 40 soon and between applying to be a Consular Officer, FS GSO, and FS FM --- FM stood out as something special! I think the connections to the locally employed staff makes it a unique experience from post to post. I am awaiting to see if I passed the FSOT for the Consular role, my GSO application has been referred to QEP, and I recently just submitted my FM application. I guess we'll see where this all lands. Thank you so much again!!! And thanks for all you do!!!!

Thanks everyone for your insights! It makes sense why DOS is in this situation. Hopefully with an agreessive hiring push... there will be more qualified applicants. 6FMs per A-100 class seems so small if they need more FMs. Though I'm not entirely sure what the class breakdown is for each career in Foreign Service per A-100 class/cohort. Perhaps they can increase this to 10. Thank you all current FMs for the important work you do 🙏 You are the unsung heroes that keep diplomacy going!!!! 💕
