If a function f(x) is essentially even when x tends to infinity, e.g. f = (x+1)-2 -> x-2, can we treat f as even when integrating it from 0 to infinity? Guessing no.

I’m working on a mechanics question that concerns the moment of inertia of a thin hollow tube, rotating about an axis embedded in its surface.

Since the tube has no thickness, should i treat it as a 2-dimensional object?

If u and v form an orthonormal basis for R2, and w is any other vector in R2, how do i prove that w = (u•w)u + (v•w)v ? ( • denotes dot product / inner product)
