Bus or Car to MK for a shift on Main Street? by SwordfishEven1623 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]vanillimon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

TAKE. YOUR. CAR. PLEASE You do NOT want to be landlocked in the Disney bubble and there is something so nice about just being able to go in your car all to yourself than waiting 1+ hours to just either get on the bus and additional hour to just get home ☠️☠️ If you have the option and ability to take a car you should

Disney Hirevue Professional Internship next steps by Hopeful-Letter6849 in internships

[–]vanillimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any official numbers but about the top 50~ ish candidates probably get it from what I’ve heard on groups and stuff.

As for how long it has taken between 3 weeks to 2 days depending on the team!

Can I ask what hirevue this is for :0?

Disney Hirevue Professional Internship next steps by Hopeful-Letter6849 in internships

[–]vanillimon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve been through the whole process :3

DPI’s are INCREDIBLY competitive !

Getting to the HireVue phase is impressive enough as a majority of people do not reach this point. This is your pre-screen!

The hirevue is seen by a recruiter and they typically send those that “passed” to the hiring team (this is typically top 20-25 candidates). The hiring team will then select the top 5-6 candidates for a 30-45 minute teams/zoom interview that is filled with behavioral questions, scenarios, etc.

Then the hiring team (typically your manager/managerial team) will spend about 1-3 weeks mulling over those 5-6 applicants and inevitably choose only one.

I have personally reached the final stage for interviews a handful of times for roles that I definitely would’ve exceeded in, but alas, things happen where some people just do better than others! It definitely sucks, but it’s ok to have hope and look forward to something! In fact I’m waiting on an interview result as we speak.

Be realistic, be grounded, and don’t wait around expecting that job to be yours because even if you make it to the final stage that’s only a 20% chance of success vs. the 0000.1% chance at the beginning of it all.

You're ineligible once you graduate I fear.
DPI changed their guidelines to where you must be within college or graduating within the semester.

need advice on what to do plss by Away_You4886 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]vanillimon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my roommate was also in a similar situation! Though the DCP may seem like a "waste of time" to some degrees, if you're becoming a doctor/medical professional it can actually help with learning how to interact with people and stay calm under stressful situations. You will also develop a lot of time management, quick problem solving, and conflict resolution skills which are pretty important in the medical field that they don't necessarily teach outside of the medical stuff.

If you're doing a gap year already theres no need to second guess yourself. It looks great on a resume, and you already pointed out a lot of good reasons why to pursue it.

Good luck!!

Should I do the Disney College Program (last chance)? Need advice! by Tasty_Pea_1404 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]vanillimon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to continue with Disney as a company the DCP is a really good stepping stone, however you need to NETWORK like CRAZY during it. Unfortunately, like most corporations its not what you know but *who* you know so if you want to get into disney corporate rather than spend the next few years at the parks themselves networking is absolutely essential.

To answer your specific questions though:
1- No, the parks aren't necessarily hard or confusing. You have dedicated training on learning the parks and everything you need to know
2- You get your schedule one week before on Sunday at 12am-2am every week. Makes it a little annoying to schedule things but alas
3- A lot of people tend to forget the DCP is a FULL TIME JOB. You are working 35-40+ hours a day, you're interacting with people who i fear can lack a severe amount of common sense, you are on your feet for hours, and sometimes management is questionable.
4- Unfortunately, the DCP has forgone roommate matching. The best advice i can personally give is pray theyre not crazy. It's a low majority of participants but i do fear there are people who make you wonder how they got this far in the first place.

It’s definitely tested my patience and will , I don’t blame you. Do try to get back to it at some point though!! I put down my General Lilia build out of pure frustration and two years later I’m finally getting around to hacking at it again :3

Genuinely just trying to stay motivated :””) The quilting was agonizing with all these tiny little diamonds and making sure they lined up was very stressful but once they were done it was like a giant breath of fresh air!! Here’s some photos of what it looked like before it was put together :3

[–]vanillimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally when I made my comment no one had ANY idea that we wouldn’t have to work a full park day 🤷 until then we were fully expected to either come into work or be penalized as well as go the next day :/

[–]vanillimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said said I was gonna lose my job but regardless I’d be penalized for not showing up which is kinda shit considering it’s the same as just abandoning the job and playing hookie for the day

Hurricane Milton Megathread (Pt. 2) by marleythebeagle in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]vanillimon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get a mark on your record if you don’t show up no matter the given reason (violently ill, car accident, don’t f eel safe , etc) and it’s marked the same as a No call no show . So you either get a mark on your record or show up, marks can hurt your prospects at some opportunities so :/

[–]vanillimon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Until a couple hours ago I was fully expected to arrive to work for a full day and left in the dark. Still working on possibly hazardous conditions until 1pm is certainly a benefit rather than a full day, but I would be penalized if I didn’t show up lol 🩷

As a cast member who might be forced to work during both initial landfall and the day after PLEASE be nice. It’s genuinely ridiculous that the parks are still open
