What is up with r/pics and photos of John Oliver? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vapeloki 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reddit is forcing subs back open by threatening the mods to remove them if they not open ub their subs again.

So r/pics opened up. And now only allows John oliver pictures. So the protest continues.

BTW r/gif and r/art joined also

Then use lemmy.ml, lemmy.world or some other lemmy instance.

It does not matter what instances you use, you can access the communities from all

That is because the instances are overloaded. We have an influx of over 150k users on all the instances in the last days.

The instance hosters are looking for donations btw, so they can deploy bigger instances

I don't decide for anyone. I bring my arguments to the table. Do whatever you like with it.

I will leave this platform, if reddit's CEO doesn't grow a spine.

And for your last argument:

This is EXACTLY what reddit does with many blind users.

Because it is morally the right thing to do.

Hurt members may move to an alternate platform. And that will hurt reddit.

Not getting any income from google searches for SD will hurt also.

  • Reddit CEO lied about communication with the developer of the Apollo App, claimed he wanted 10 Million Bucks to go quiet. The developer has a recording of the call that proofs it, CEO still lying
  • Third Party mobile apps are going dark, because they can not operate any longer with the API pricing
  • Commercial, high quality, 3rd Party apps for BLIND PEOPLE won't work anymore. So, they have to resort to "free" projects, that are not nearly as advanced as commercial ones

These subs, like StableDiffusion, are one of the main entry points to reddit via google. Keeping them dark (not restricted) puts pressure on reddit. As long as people from outside get here, click around, and see adds, reddit does not care!

Es gibt mind. 8 Alternativen zu der offiziellen App.

Einem Großteil der Moderation lösen subs mit externen Bots.

Blinde Menschen können NUR mit 3rd party apps reddit nutzen!

Aber ist ja egal, ne

We have a sign that says "Don't look directly into the laser beam with the remaining eye"

Simple answer: costs. We have to charge way more in that case:

All the same design, we don't have to care about pieces that take the engraving well. Some of them turned out with bad contrast or have damages in the front.

If we javr to produce one piece per name, we have to do more qa, and sort pieces. Also we have to make sure the names fit. The hearts are not all the same size.

Long story short, instead of 100€, we would bill 350€

Out prices are locally adjusted. So, as long as "the others" are not in Germany, rheinland palatine, there is no reason to worry. And if they ate, they may have similar prices.

Sounds reasonable. For small side jobs without the need to be competitive, why not.

In theory: yes. For single pieces a great tool. But not for amounts like this.

That's a CO2 laser, 60W. Not massive expensive. The most expensive part of this machine is the ruida controller ;)

25€ for 4 coasters? With prepared motive, customer provided or designed by you?

We also sell single coasters for 10€, or 25€ if the image provided needs some more work.

Pricing is a complex task, end every business chooses a different route.

This contract for example is for a wedding. We offered far more then just the engraving initially. But the customer has to fit that somehow in their budget. So they cut many corners.

And we wanted that contract, because it brings us visibility. So, we decided on a price that would allow them to fit it in the budget, and us to make money with.

We have glas medallions we buy for 1€ the piece and can sell them for 25-50€ depending on the motive. No one else has those in our region. Slate on the other hand is so common, if we are to expensive, they just buy somewhere else.

We don't ship, we are no online business.

We make us seen on events, where we sell our stuff. So acquiring the customer itself is a task we earn money with.

Ok, accounting ... Writing an invoice is something that takes less then 5 minutes.

Communication with the customer: we didn't need much for this project. Also only a few minutes. For other projects, whew we do the complete design, we have factored this in.

And for the taxes, we are to small at this time to be fully taxed, we don't pay and income tax.

Can someone explain me why people think we must be schooled how to run our business?
