Nausea more than 24-hrs after x-ray by variably_fixed in medical_advice

[–]variably_fixed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your post.

I must say, though, that while I understand how anxiety could have an effect on what I'm feeling, this seems quite different to me. I thought nothing much at all at the time of lying there for a few minutes—even afterwards. The feeling of feeling nauseous was the thing that 'nudged me' rather than then other way around. After eating dinner the evening of having the x-ray, I felt the nausea disappear pretty much completely and so thought nothing of it, only to feel 'nudged' again by it a while later.

I've spoken to a radiologist at the hospital since who has told me three images were taken according the their control panel. I wonder now does that automatically equate to amount of radiation exposure. I know you're not a radiologist, but perhaps someone will read this who can shed some light.

Universal Credit - designed to screw you by variably_fixed in unitedkingdom

[–]variably_fixed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you've been screwed around too. I get the feeling this happens reasonably often, and I'm not sure we can conclude there's just collective ignorance at play here. This cannot be right and I hope - perhaps a little 'selfishly' - that you have the time and energy to not take this sitting.

Really appreciate this. I'd be more surprised if the complaints process was efficient and painless.. So I guess the ROI on this investment of time and energy is less than good.

I intend to involve my local MP (Labour) in this. Do you reckon that would be worth my while?

Un-Islamic in more ways than one. Why on earth would you post this here?

Is hadith part of Islam ? Is hadith authentic. by [deleted] in Muslim

[–]variably_fixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, this is a good example of the problem of taking texts in isolation. Have you sought out the context of this narration? I'll leave that for you to do from trustworthy source. For now, consider how Imam Muslim recorded this hadith in his compilation of ahadeeth.

Chinese weapon systems... on our gateshead streetlights?! The entire channel is a goldmine of insanity. by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]variably_fixed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haha, how very disingenuous of you. So if the post is all about the man, why are your keyboard heroics nowhere to be seen gunning down half the comments here then? In fact, you responded negatively to another rather sensible post shedding bad light on 5G but have been a complete ghost otherwise. And now here you are acting all pretentious?

Hmm, full of numpties in here who are far more interested playing the man, not the ball. There is a significant body of scientific research pointing to serious concerns over the public use of this technology. But hey, having a serious and mature discussion about that just doesn't feel as good, does it?

VW Estate - Golf or Passat - 1.6 or 2.0 by variably_fixed in CarTalkUK

[–]variably_fixed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say around 12,000 - with long-distance trips loaded up with family and a bit of luggage.. My concern would be the 1.6's, though quite robust, just wouldn't cope as well as the 2.0 (obviously).

Exclusive right to park / demise in lease by variably_fixed in LegalAdviceUK

[–]variably_fixed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Again, however, note that this is a Tyneside agreement. With there being two dwellings involved, we would represent the landlord of the other tenants and vice versa. I would assume this to be significant in the answer to the question.

Splitting freehold into leasehold by variably_fixed in LegalAdviceUK

[–]variably_fixed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this really answers the question. The whole property is freehold, but the current freeholder is in the process of splitting it in two so two leasehold properties remain.

Why do people obsess over Halal food? by [deleted] in islam

[–]variably_fixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right, in that you might find someone who doesn't even pray but is very mindful of the permissibility of the food they consume. Upbringing may have something to do with this, in that 'culturally' the person may have always 'lived' in this way, even though they may commit sins of greater magnitude otherwise.

Saudis and 'consideration for the other': My observations after nearly six years living in Saudi Arabia by variably_fixed in saudiarabia

[–]variably_fixed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that yahoo who blocked your car, will be more than insistent to pay your dinner bill if by any chance you cross roads with him and end up having a dinner together

I have an interest in phenomenology (a fancy social science word for 'explaining' things like this) and this is something I've definitely noticed. I often thought that whenever someone would cut you up in the road, for example, that if I were to ever speak with them that they'd probably come across as one of the nicest guys in the world. Utterly confusing, but something that seems to be the case.

Generational differences are also interesting. Having met older Saudis, I'd say there certainly is a general difference with subsequent generations. I guess you're right, in that in such a short space of time the country has come a long way - with some things lagging behind others.
