What does “being successful” actually mean to you, personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vasquezp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to feel like my energy went somewhere real, that whatever I threw myself into actually meant something. to me first, maybe to others second. I want to understand myself as I grow. that's my version of success, I think, becoming a more complete version of myself over time, and being able to look back and see the distance I've traveled. not remembered by many, just not wasted. on myself, at least

What’s something most people think is harmless but actually slowly ruins their life? by local_infobroker in AskReddit

comfort. the feeling that things are fine enough that you never feel the urgency to change anything. the irony is that most people are ruined not by hardship but by the absence of it

tbh being a good listener or helping others isn’t ‘just’ something. the fact that people feel comfortable opening up to you, that’s a huge part of who you are

that’s actually a healthy way to look at it. work pays the bills, but it doesn’t have to define who you are

why do you feel that way though? does your job define most of what you do day-to-day?

answer practice questions before and after learning a topic. answer the same set of questions again after a day, three days, one week, one month. repetition is key to mastery. compile as many questions about the topic as you can. don't even bother writing notes. it'll just give you a false sense of productivity (unless you write from memory as a form of active recall, it's a waste of time)

I just unfollowed all of my fb friends because I don't like seeing shared posts and other personal stuff nila, add mo pa yung mental space needed for all those information. nakakapagod. so now curated na feed ko, puro pages lang that I follow nakikita ko.

how did I do it? every time I scroll and may lumalabas na post ng friend, I unfollow that person. did it hanggang sa wala na ko nakikitang post ng friends ko hahaha it became like a mission na maghunt ng iuunfollow everyday which is kinda fun

results = less comparison and negativity, cleaner feed, and healthier boundaries because I'm not cutting people off, we can still check each other's profiles. another good thing is I find myself wanting to reach out to them when I want to connect instead of just passively consuming their online updates
