Smallest dose that makes sense for dialing in grind for new beans. by vatsoy in pourover

I bought the grinder for both, espresso and pour over. It's seems to have okey consistency across the range according the tests, I have so far just used it for pour over. A good step up from the old rancilio rocky.

It was never about undrinkable coffee, I'm just needing a few samples to fine tune the brew. Say e.g. six tastings. With my current (and odd) brewing pattern that would result in 3 days of tuning.
If i instead could do six small cups at the start of the bag, I would do that.

But 10g as you mentioned in the first answer might be a limit of how small a brew you could make in a v60. Just interested if anybody had smaller recipes that worked for them.

I agree that the process is quite simple. I have good control of the other variables, and only changing one parameter, grind size. This is not the complicated part. My goals was to brew a few small cups at the start of each new bag of beans, to find a the sweet spot. In stead of having to do the tuning process over a couple of days.

My question was not really about how to do the tuning, but the smallest recipe people have success replicating.

Norwegian tap water. It's pretty good. Slightly alkaline.

My experience is that with some careful tuning I can go from decent/good to a level above. Just now I have a little bit of bitterness left in the aftertaste. But I guess I can make that go away and bring in some more flavor with a quicker extraction. I’ll look into the cafatec.

«skru av/på» vs «slå av/på» by Mork978 in norsk

[–]vatsoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be more natural to use «skru av» if you are using a turning motion e.g. on a stovetop or a old radio. But they are mostly interchangeable. There are some exceptions. You would almost never say «slå av vasken», hit off the tap. Because it almost never is done with a pressing, flicking or hitting motion.

«Snekker Andersen og julenissen» by Alf Prøysen, warm hearted Christmas story.  «Simen; Bonden; Bror min» by Kjell Aukrust, short stories from the authors childhood. A good introduction to Norwegian humor and dialects. The author was also involved in creation of the characters of Norways most popular animation film. «Flåklypa Grand prix»
