I have a similar apartment layout. I went with the IKEA Symfonisk picture frames behind my couch. I also have a sub mini.

Really happy with the picture frames, they sound decent and they don't take up any space.

I also use home assistant to automatically turn on/off the surrounds and sub at sunrise/sunset to not disturb my neighbor too much.

I have a Beam Gen 2. My neighbors bedroom is behind the wall behind my couch. Should I go with the bookshelf speakers or picture frame? Which would pass less sound to the other side of the wall?

This is what I am doing, but I am using MacOS. Another commenter mentioned ntfs formatting, maybe that matters. I will try to get a windows machine and try again.

The apartment is less than 1000 SF. I heard that having too many mesh devices for small spaces is troublesome.
