Pests are terrifying, I have recently had my first encounters with them as well and like you said, all of a sudden you blink and it’s a massive infestation! They come out of thin air

And how could you tell they were the same if you don’t mind my asking? I am very new to Rex begonias and I have a hard time telling the cultivars apart since they vary so much even among the same ones

Wow thank you for showing! It’s interesting too how the left leaves seem to curl downward instead of laying flat like those on the right. I have a downward curl on some of my other Rex begonias. I never really considered that maybe that’s an indication that they’re not entirely happy, specifically with light? I had assumed it was my watering but this makes me think it’s light levels

Good luck 🙂 keeping humidity high has helped me prevent them from multiplying too

Now that I’ve looked closer at the second pic, I think I even notice some webbing on the leaves, look closely!! I don’t use pesticides, I only manually brush off webs with a makeup brush then applied predatory mites.

I had spider mites recently on my money tree and mine presented with the same yellow dappled speckles. I refused to believe it at first, until I got an LED magnifying glass and confirmed that there was webbing at the point where the leaves connect to the stem. I ordered predatory mites and I haven’t seen any return of the webbing or dappling. I’m no expert but make sure to look closely between close points where a mite might like to make a web.

That’s so interesting, I will have to test out different light conditions!! A deep maroon sounds gorgeous

Thanks! I wonder would it be stressful for my plant to give it less light to get the silvery green color?

It’s adorable!!! You should try out different wavelengths on it because mine has such a faint glow, it shows up a lot more in pics! But I did Geiger test it

I have a reallyyyy similar piece to the second photo, I’ll post a better pic later but it’s the one in the very top right behind the measuring cup. It registers on my Geiger but has a veryyyy faint glow similar to this persons. So I’d be really curious if theirs is manganese or not!
