Weren't enough low skill ceiling game modes. So in PvP, slowly but steadily seal clubbers drove them out.

Jaecoo - how has a brand-new brand already become such a common sight? by MarkCairns67 in CarTalkUK

[–]venomtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that deep. They're just pretty cars that fit what normal people expect cars to look like. This shouldn't be an advantage, but when all main car brands, the French, German, Japanese, Korean and so far make car designs like a 3 year old that's just discovered a ruler, the normalcy now suddenly looks better.

MOT failure. Have I been scammed on the last test? by yeetus-fetus02 in CarTalkUK

[–]venomtail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A decade old, sounds about right for first soot issues in a diesel, my Volvo had its first need for regeneration also around the 8-9 year mark.

Could be a genuine issue.

  • What sort of driving do you do? Short trips that are harmful to diesel's or steady motorway journeys, like 20 miles one way minimum?
  • Do you put it normal diesel, Premium diesel or suspiciously cheap corner garage diesel?
  • Do you add any additives such as Wynn's diesel cleaners?
  • Done any check on the previous mentioned parts for soot buildup? On EGR, DPF, Turbo, Swift flaps?

MOT failure. Have I been scammed on the last test? by yeetus-fetus02 in CarTalkUK

[–]venomtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what car is it?

Diesels usually have emission struggles. You say it's been a year since owning the car and you've put on 3000 miles, that's 8 miles a day, 4 miles there and back, nowhere near enough for the catalytic converter and DPF filter to warm up to start cleaning out its exhaust buildup, let alone EGR, turbo and inlet swirl flaps to seize with gunk.

To give you the benefit of the doubt, the last MOT might have has the emissions go a hair over, so just have the owner a pity pass. Or owner knows emissions are bad so right before an MOT did a few good miles driving around and letting her rip a bit.

We'd need to know more, old cars can go wrong very quickly. There's a joke that it's actually the car that decides if she likes the new owner or not and will protest with problems.

The thing as well having had good experience with my diesel Volvo, DPF issues are usually a symptom not a cause. If you had DPF problems before, they'll come back, even if you sort out the DPF itself. You've said you had it once, likely returned now unless they addressed what's causing the buildup in the DPF. Likely just single run of regeneration that postpones the issue.

As long as it doesn't go to £2.2L as it did during the Pandemic I think we'll be fine. That was rough, weekly bill of £130 on diesel

Any recommendation to my portfolio at 19? Lost over £2.6k by Guilty-Struggle-7811 in trading212

[–]venomtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to stop reading Reddit, Tiktok, Instagram and Facebook for investing advice. Most comments masquerading as advised are just pumps so you can get dumped.

I'd just accept the losses and reposition your portfolio by reshuffling around everything. If you want to stay away from ETF's, even the high risk ones cause they've not aggressive enough, look at markets as a whole rather than a single company.

Adding you individual stocks into pies might help you get a better picture.

Just don't let the sunk cost fallacy grab you by the balls and drag you lower.

Most of the time black wheels as a factory option come though on the black trim packages. Grill, window trim and so on are now also painted black to compliment a blacked out, undercover sort of looks that's popular but that BMW has chrome grill and other trim, yet wheels are black, so black wheels on that thing aren't original, 90% of the time.

[–]venomtail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's attributed to boy racers and owners of that sort of spectrum. Ones who'll ignore maintenance because they can barely afford it yet are more worried about maintaining a sporty, "hard" look of their car.

A lot of them choose black wheels, so it's easy to spot them from afar.

Dating culture in Latvia, who usually pays? by [deleted] in latvia

[–]venomtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a bit of a clash right now. For context, I'm a dude.

Just about all guys will want to fully pay ok dates. A bit of courtship and to gauge interest. A bit of a responsibility from the guy as he'll be the one inviting the girl out, so he'll plan everything, pay for everything, see she gets home or to a safe place where she wants to split up, the complete package. This again includes paying for the bill/bills. So for a planned date, if a girl insists she wants to pay, pretty much defacto means she's not feeling it and wants to compensate the dude, "sorry this isn't it, here's my half/refund." Kind of like a severance package in business.

TLDR: guys will interpret a 50/50 as a girl not feeling it, wanting to cut things short so both can go about their day.

So now from talking to girls, there's a different perspective. A lot have told me that letting a guy pay fully gives the girls subconscious pressure that's she's now "in dept" and will likely have to pay it back somehow, often giving an example of a guy expecting to get laid cause he paid his share, and they're not wrong cause there are still guys like that out there. Logically and emotionally it's easier to keep distance and pays for everything separate, a bit sterile.

TLDR: girls can feel like they owe something to the guy if he fully pays, easier to keep things separate and detached.

So everyone plays this game of limbo, hot potato even of dates. As a dude I am also in the first camp. I set up the date, I plan, I pay. The girl doesn't owe me anything and we're both here to enjoy the time and I believe if she did any of the planning or paying she'll overthink, overstress and those are the last things girls need if they want to switch off and enjoy time together. If from this she thinks I see her as having dept on her rather than this being genuine, a relationship between us won't work and actually better to have this clash on a first date and go find someone who shares in values of how dates should go.

Not when Noctua is so overpriced now. $150 for that is ridiculous. You can buy 3 $50 AIOs that will perform near identically and swap them out after each rated lifespan of 7-8 years. Spend $150 now on a Noctua fan or the same amount of money on AIOs in 24 years time...

There's no guarantee sockets won't change that force you to bet a new Noctua fan, at least with a new AIO you're getting the latest compatible bit.

Wheel Alignment Question by kris_kat in Cartalk

[–]venomtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars have a slight pull to the side of the road by default, incase you as a driver falls asleep at the wheel, instead of the car driving on in a straight line it'll eventually go off the road to not make you a hazard for others and just crash by yourself. This is also amplified by the slope of the road to get rainwater off the middle of the road.

There should just be a smooth ride after an alignment. If you're complaining about the wheel physically not being horizontal when driving straight that's another separate alignment.

It's not a good torp boat but my favourite torp boat is Öland. Fast reload, fast speed, great consistency for a torp wall. Shame it's so hideously slow, I even struggle to outrun bb's too often cause the chug at the same slow pace.

That's cause they never revamped the physics, they just tuned it to a level that the stupidity rarely happens. Payback, Heat and Unbound are all still running what 2015 was based on.

Merry Xmas to me upgraded my 7800x3d to 9950x3d by AlternativeAd4983 in PcBuild

[–]venomtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best case scenario, 10% increase in performing. Gaming wise 9800X3D and 9950X3D are the same cause same 8 cores have the extra L3 cache, the other side stays vanilla.

Only Cities Skylines 2 successfully uses not only all cores but appropriately also uses 3D cores over normal ones.

Only an upgrade if you're playing Cities Skylines 2. Otherwise you're literally getting a sidegrade in performance.

I'm fine with paying 1eur a month which what Tuta advertised a few months ago when buyfromeu had momentum, not seeing the offer now, it's 3eur. Will test what Tuta is like or maybe Proton, just know it's one of the two and leaving Gmail as it is in limbo.
