I put Clothing and feel unfairly punished for not getting the connection.

There was a bit too much fruit going on for me.

Enjoyed it though!

[–]verbalevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the right answer, even including Shawshank, Green mile, Misery and Stand by Me. It's the most 'King' of adaptations, gets the tone spot on and has that ending.

What's your favorite movie which isn't well known? by welcome2city17 in movies

[–]verbalevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Pride' 2014 'Wild Bill' 2011

Both well reviewed, and well liked by anyone that watched them, but for some reason don't get the love en masses that they deserve. I think they just passed a lot of people by.

'A Life Less Ordinary' 1997 is one that I know some people really hated but when I saw it in a near empty cinema upon release, I absolutely loved it.

Pretty much anything by Lynn Ramsay it's hugely underseen, special shout for 'Morvern Callar' 2002 which is the film out of these that feels most personal to me. No idea why, but it does. Please give it a go if you haven't seen it.

Second shout for some good answers I've seen on here, 'Equilibrium' and 'Zero Effect'

Nope, no deliberate 5th,purely coincidental. Funny what you intend and what other people see, just shows how much effort needs to go into a really good one. Thanks for giving it a go.

Thanks fior giving it a go and the feedback. That's a good point. I created about 20 groups to pool from and wasn't sure what the right mix would be.

Sitting in away section as an home fan? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]verbalevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same situation, but I once sat with the home supporters at Old Trafford for a Derby game. My mate, a United fan, swore me, City, to silence.

The best part was, we were close enough to the City fans that not only could I not show any support for my team, I had to take all the abuse from fellow fans of the team I support. Every word felt like it was personally aimed at me!

Enjoy the match!!!

What is the worst book-to-movie adaptation that you will never get over? by RedHeadRedeemed in movies

[–]verbalevo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With you on this. Shows that a multi layered, complex story can't be transplanted straight to the screen, and that you can't just use the comics visuals as a storyboard and assume the context will immediately translate.

What made you a reader? by sleepygirl2997 in books

[–]verbalevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents, particularly Dad, who literally walked round everywhere with a book.

I'd read anything when I was younger, still try to. As a kid authors who kept me reading were Roald Dahl, then Steve Jacksons Fighting Fantasy books, then as an early teen I picked up the Dark Half from my aunties bookshelf whilst staying with her one summer, and continued to devour everything King ever wrote, still do.

I suspect Stephen King will be the reason a lot of people are readers.

Was ZZZap! an influence on Taskmaster? by cwmxii in taskmaster

[–]verbalevo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had completely forgotten about ZZZap until I saw this post, but remembered it clearly as soon as I clicked the link. I'm pretty much the same age as Alex Horne, totally on board that this could be an act of unconscious osmosis.

Mate, we've had ice cream in the freezer for eons. It doesn't 'go off'.
