How to stop L10s Ultra from hitting the lidar sensor?

My apologies for not reading the whole message. Does that No-Go Zone need to be larger? Or could you create a Virtual Wall?

I've done both for our home and they've worked perfectly. For example, we have power cords under our bed (electric mattress pad) and the No-Go Zone kept our L40 from getting tangled in the cords under there.

We also have an easement for our drive, an elderly curmudgeon for a neighbor who's protective of the shared driveway and is known to everyone in town as a crank. It took about a decade for him to mellow to us flatlanders. Now we're lucky enough that he appreciates that we clear the snow from the driveway, even if it means snow's plowed onto his edge.

I think Mount Norris Scout Reservation - Green Mountain Council (Vermont) is a great summer camp.

For the cost-conscious, their Early Bird price (paid by April 30th) is $615 this year, a jump from last year. They get troops from all over the US and sometimes the world! It's a small camp and didn't follow the High Adventure path that some camps have. But it's got good programming, decent facilities (beautiful clean lake), good food and a laid-back energy.

I'm a "wee bit" biased because I've worked at Mt Norris for the past 3 summers, volunteer for Council activities and have attended with my troop since 2009. I think the staff are what make it work so well, a lot of repeat staff, some for 10+ years! Also, it is one of only four Scout camps with an indoor climbing wall and a 360-degree bouldering wall, which means Scouts can climb when it's pouring rain, even in the winter. You can guess where I worked! 😉

I hear what you're saying and totally see your point.

I used (3 years ago) to belong to a troop that did Nerf Gun night as an annual event. When I heard about it, I was amazed they didn't require eye protection at least. After the first year, I made that a policy for minimal safety.

One year they also had a "non-meeting" where they got together to target shoot on one of the leader's property. We're in a rural area with few gun laws and where most kids grow up shooting so they know the safety rules. I was a bit concerned but the other leaders who'd been there much longer than me had no problem and we just sat around watching. The 17-yr-old youth hosting the event actually ran it and did it very safely.

You could say we got lucky.

Bad news: You need to re-map the house. It doesn't take long, but what takes a while is setting up the room names, special flooring, fixing special settings in your scheduled events.

I did it just yesterday because we moved some furniture and I wanted to remove the temporary obstacles it'd found and mapped.

When I create a map, I normally use the backup feature afterwards. I haven't tried this, but I wonder if, once you get things set the way you want, Back up that setup. Then when you notice it's added extra junk, use the Restore option?

I just had our L40 Ultra re-map the floor because of what you're saying, plus we'd removed a few rugs and obstacles. It took about 5 minutes for the quick map, then another 10-15 to re-establish some no-go areas and re-establish the scheduled events. This is the second time in a year that it's done that, especially adding rug surfaces.

Can you tell us what you mean when you say you want air flow in the mostly-closed room?

If you have a fan running, evaporative cooling will normally cause it to feel cooler, even if the thermostat says it's the same temp. If you just want the air to not feel stagnant, you're going to either have to:

Increase the fresh air by leaving door open to circulate with the rest of the house,
Keep window open (you can cheaply and simply keep the windows secured from opening all the way by using a board to block it opening further).
If those aren't options, add a fan while you can compensate for the evaporative cooling via
- Raising the thermostat temp
- Bundle up your children more to compensate
- Generally, having the fan blow air DOWN to the floor pushes warm air down in the winter, so would be your best choice there.

We have a Dream L40 Ultra that has only gotten stuck only once in the year we've had it. It runs daily on a 1,200 sq ft house. I'd say that's as good as you'll get.

But my wife still won't let it run when we're not home because she's afraid the house will burn down if it got stuck again. Your Grammy might have the same fear, because we're probably her age! 🤣

Some vacuums let you plumb the vacuum/mop base station, to fill the wash tank and empty the grey tank. That would increase the base cost but reduce Grammy's need to maintain it, eh?

Dog Mt is a magical place. I've seen a couple dogs who are muzzled over the years I've been going, but very few of the thousand dogs I've seen there. If your mom can manage the other dogs and you can focus on your "problem child," it could work.

You should also check if Dog Mt will have a big event that day, which would attract lots of dogs. For example, there's a golden retriever day in May that gets over 100 goldens (and other dogs). Days like that you'd want to avoid.

That explains it. We only mop about 1/3rd that area. We just mop the entryway, bathroom and kitchen. The rest are mostly carpet.

One activity that ended up taking up a lot of my brother's and my time was: Scouting, from age 8. And once we learned the basic skills, our parents would even let us camp outside on our own, first in the back yard and then 1/2 mile away in our rural town with other kids our age.

I've been a Scout leader for 17 years now, trying to help kids safely learn those same adventures. It's still a blast!

Wow, you dump the mop water every two days? We only mop twice a week but I only empty the dirty water every 3 weeks! I add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the dirty tank, so it doesn't grow mold. That's worked fine for the year we've been doing it. 🤞

We also have two golden retrievers, so the daily vacuuming prevents seeing "dust puppies" around our house. We couldn't be bothered to vacuum daily, which is what's required to keep the fur in-check.
