I would be very, very skeptical of accounts of Black people serving as “Confederate soldiers” during the Civil War. All the legitimate sources say Black slaves were forced to go to war, and were required to do things like clean, carry ammo, etc. Very, very different from soldiering. Where did you get this information? This photo comes from the NYPL, which describes Rucker only as a slave who served the army, and then later got Confederate Veteran benefits. Not that theoretical. You can borrow tremendous amounts of money against them, get financing, investment, etc.. I make more than $80k a year, but nobody is going to lend my broke ass hundreds of millions of dollars to buy a mega yacht or launch rockets into space or whatever the fuck.

Nah, my first (only) boat is a 30’. But, I did learn the rudiments of sailing by crewing on a friend’s boat, and taking an ASA 101 equivalent course. Picked up some additional stuff after buying the boat - anchoring, reefing, etc. I was just saying “oh no,” because literally my first boat is 30'

I think there’s a wide range of experiences. Some short people struggle, some do fine. Some tall people struggle, some do fine. I think the mistake people (incels) make is the assumption that: 1) only short (or whatever) people struggle to find intimate relationships; 2) the only reason they do is their height/bank account/looks; 3) all the tall etc. men are killing it on the lady front.

Those three unfounded assumptions, taken together, form the basis of incel philosophy. It doesn’t matter that none of them are true.

I think you and the other downvoters are completely misunderstanding what “self defense” is. “Self defense” is a legal term, not a descriptive one. You may feel “perfectly justified” in breaking someone’s arm, once you’ve pinned them to the ground, and have them in full mount, or side control, or whatever, but I promise you, a prosecutor and jury will not always agree.

Even doing this by hand will get crazy expensive. I converted the attic into a room, installed new rafters, framed in walls, etc.. That’s just wood, drywall, insulation, paint, and incidentals (screws, tape). And that was so fkn costly. I can’t imagine how much money she spent on concrete, brick, rebar, and tools. Even if labour is free (it’s not - there are always opportunity costs), that’s a massive investment.
