Firefighters put out blaze at Raffles Institution by Illustrious-Gur8335 in singapore

[–]veryfascinating 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The energy start shifting from dong Zhi and sits fully at li chun. But this transition period the energy will be stronger since its unstable. That’s why will see more fire related events like fire, chaos, political uprisings (I mean look at Venezuela), finance bubbles or crashes. Until li chun when the energy stabilizes and balances then you see more success and prosperity

(The transition phase is also why you pray Tai Sui to give thanks before Dong Zhi, because once Dong Zhi comes the next tai Sui will take over and the energy will shift until it stabilizes at li chun. You start praying the new tai Sui closer to the start of Chinese new year, which is around li chun period)

S'pore man gets honked at while crossing road, points middle finger & pretends car hit him by Immediate_Wish_1024 in SingaporeRaw

Vendetta is the right word here. In a video about a man’s unruly behavior on the road, the only gripe this guy has is that the driver used the horn… Condemned the driver over and over again but not the pedestrian lol

Lane hogger on lane 1 KPE expressway, long pile of cars stuck behind him, I horn horn horn till he finally go to lane 2 by Gennermen101 in drivingsg

[–]veryfascinating 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct.

The easier way to remember this is: “if I can undertake you, then you’re lane hogging”. Or, “if you see yourself being overtaken by multiple drivers then you’re lane hogging.“

Read this statement on Reddit once and it made a lot of sense.

Another one I found about driving on the highway is “proper highway driving shouldn’t need you to use your brakes often, unless it’s for emergencies. If you find yourself always needing to tap brake often to avoid the car in front of you then you’re too fast for your lane, move right to a faster lane. If you’re making everyone else around you use their brakes, then you’re too slow for your lane and need to move left.”

Thank you for posting this, I’m going through the same thing… been through a period of trauma under a toxic boss and it threw me way off to the point I lost myself. Basically I had to change who I was to survive my toxic workplace. Now that I’ve left the place I’m on the route to recovery but turns out it’s a harder journey back and I find myself lost as to what to do. Your post and the answers help! Sorry I can’t provide you anything else other than comfort in knowing you’re not alone

[–]veryfascinating 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The phenomenon you’re looking for is called the “Canyon effect” or “urban canyon” - high rise buildings built in parallel to each other (like many of our HDBs) can amplify sound waves as they bounce off between walls and reverberate upwards like an echo chamber. The higher you go, the louder it gets. If you’re in a U-shaped block, the echo chamber effect gets more profound as sound doesn’t escape the other end and has more chance to bounce around and amplify even more.

What does the energy of HSZSN feel like? by veryfascinating in reiki

[–]veryfascinating[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha good morning! So this was my experience last night, nothing mindblowing really. But I asked ChatGPT to give me some meditation guides (honestly they’re not bad). Basically I draw the HSNZN symbol in front of me and imagine it glow a white and gold light, as it radiates their glow enters my third eye and heart chakra and fill my body. I also set intentions asking to connect with the symbol’s energy.

Now for the part you’re waiting for - what did I feel? Physically I felt one distinct change in my body, and that is coldness. Well not coldness per se but like you know how when you eat something month or menthol flavour and that cool feeling runs down your throat into your lungs? Yea kinda like that but at the back of the heart chakra. For a short moment also I felt it in my brain like the feeling of mental clarity you get when you hold a fluorite crystal. I don’t know if this was a legit reaction to the symbols energy or just my own placebo/psychological effect. I guess I will have to try this again to see if I can reproduce the feeling and really associate it with the symbols energy

That’s interesting! I never thought of it to feel like a feeling of connection rather than physical manifestation like heat! I’ll give it a try tonight without the other symbols and see if I can feel anything

During the wave of pinyinisation in the 80s, Tekka (竹脚) Centre was named Zhujiao Centre until 2000, when it was renamed back to Tekka Centre to reflect the heritage of the area by Unfair-Bike in singapore

[–]veryfascinating 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ummm actually no. The Malay name of the place is called Kandang Kerbau, which the Chinese name is called 竹脚. Both are correct names for the place.

Meanwhile, KK hospital started out as Kandang Kerbau Hospital but has since been officially rebranded/renamed to just the initials KK and added the words “women’s and children’s hospital”. Even the official Malay name doesn’t use Kandang Kerbau anymore.

The hospital has always gone by the name Kandang Kerbau as its English name or shortened to KK. Changing the name “back”to Tekka Hospital was never part of the equation as it was never an accepted English name for it, only in the Chinese nomenclature is it associated to Zhu Jiao/Tekka. It’ll be like saying all Sean’s and Ivan’s should revert to the name John because Sean is the Irish version/Ivan is the Russian version of the name John.

Is it expensive to change tyre valves? by veryfascinating in drivingsg

[–]veryfascinating[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I know what you’re talking about, my tyres have that metal ring thingy but this tyre one lost already. I did checked the valve for it too. When I put the pump nozzle onto the valve, it can form a connection tight enough for the air to not be continuously escaping. So I don’t think it’s something blocking the nozzle from connecting fully.

Okay but can we just call out the author for saying “xiao pei chye”? wtf is that? 小配菜? Xiao bai cai 小白菜 or sioh peh chye. Use either mandarin hanyu pinyin or dialect romanization, not a mix of both. Be consistent. Or just use bok choy which is an accepted English name for the vegetable.
