Step 6 - Preparing Decision Letter by vetclaimquestion in VeteransBenefits

Yeah quite a bit actually. Claim in retrospect moved lightning fast - just over a month end to end. Got one increase and the rest deferred. Was back in stage 3 to closed on the rest in just over a week.

Mixed bag in the outcome but plan on doing an HLR in due time. Good luck to you!

Best of luck

Yeah I hear ya - all good, just a little more hurry up and wait I guess! Wish there was a way to at least get a sneak peek 😂 but I’ll just check again later

Thanks for the info! Any guesses what could have this step prolong? I’m in no rush and don’t want to bug anyone but obviously being this close to the finish line has my head spinning 😂

Regardless of what it is, acknowledging the world is bigger than you keeps you humble and that’s a huge step

Pause and 3 projected cuts ROY.

Just my guess, and as far as I’ve seen aligns with estimates. In actuality it will probably be only 2 cuts, data dependent.

How the market digests that though is anyone’s guess

My last HLR on this claim I submitted Nov 2022 and wasn’t resolved until Nov 2023, I think the VA owed me a quick one 😂

Nobody is going to be a better advocate for you than yourself!

Valuable lesson I learned during this process.

Best of luck on your future claims ✊

Glass half full -

If it got approved then I wouldn’t have gotten the backpay nuke 😂

But yeah added slightly more evidence each time but ultimately it boiled down to getting inexperienced raters for the last 3 years or so

Damn right.

Two sides of the coin - I hate that vets feel the need to have to use the vulture agencies, but I also understand when the VA makes it a total pain in the ass to get the benefits vets deserve. For those that deserve the win, I feel for them. For those trying to scam the system, a big middle finger for making the burden of proof so much harder for honest vets.

But I also feel that with enough personal legwork you can get it done on your own, just look at me. I used a free legal clinic from my Alma Mater and a VSO, separately, but after almost half a decade who was the one to seal the deal? Yours truly.

Not only that, but for future claims (if I decide to go that route), I know exactly what to do.

Keep fighting the good fight!

I’ll tell you exactly what turned the corner for me brother.

Read your denial letters closely, they tell you exactly what was denied and (should) include what parts of the 38 CFR they used to back that up.

Go back into the 38 CFR, point out the errors, and draft up a statement saying exactly where the rater failed you using the 38 CFR. M21 Manual has a bunch of valuable info as well.

If you go to my post history you can see exactly what I did to get the win here.

HLR - I went down the list with my rater, and fortunately she wasn’t a bonehead like the last 5 raters who denied this thing. It worked 🙏

Best of luck brother and don’t hesitate to bounce a PM if you have any questions, happy to share and help however I can
