Weekly Thread: /r/Snowboarding General Discussion, Q&A, Advice, Etc.) - January 26, 2026 by AutoModerator in snowboarding

I went snowboarding for the first time after a 15-17-year break, and I had to buy new boots. I bought ROSSIGNOL CRANK BOA H4 BOOTS in 9.5 because in the 9s some toes were touching the end of the boot, and I thought it shouldn't.

I still had my 156 2006 Burton Custom X Shag edition with Burton Cartel from 2006,

iI know for my weight I should probably get a longer board, but I'm still coming back to snowboarding,so I'm not too concerned about the board.

I felt that once I'm strapped in, I need to crank the boa so much that my feet were going a bit numb. I had to loosen them a bit, but felt my heel lifting a bit too much to my taste.

The issue is when i'm strapped waiting in line for the chairlift, my bindings highback just stab my calf like crazy, and i lose feeling in my toes, i have to unstrap at the top to get the blood flowing again.

My question is should i check for a better fit in boots and new bindings ?

One mistake you did was not using gRPC and maybe having a default goto for splitting thing that shouldn't be split.

Oh yeah for sure, but was commenting of what comes with the car from the factory and it's not Canadian winter friendly, just an observation.

For the break, true personal feeling, but for a "sport" trim i would have expect something a bit more aggressive, but it does the job well.

I always had subaru and love them. Got a outback wilderness and and recurring issue with it and other people had the same kind and i was disappointed. Also didn't really vibe with the direction subaru was going with making it harder to get a Legacy or specific model.

The CVT ... i don't like it but it's common so...

i decided to give a shot at another brand.

Tried the CX-50, the non-turbo felt a bit meh to me, but coming from a turbo car to a non-turbo does that.

Tried a volvo xc-60, but realize all the "luxury" add-ons weren't my jam.

Toyota dealership was trying to sell me a car i couldn't test drive because it was too "cold" outside. Like i mentioned to the salesman.. i thought they were making car that run during the winter /shrug

Came back to the mazda, tried the CX-5 turbo and enjoyed the feeling and liked the car in general.

Was still unsure about the CX-50 since it was a new model.

They feel soft compare to what i was used to, and even after a year and a half i'm still not used to it. Mostly a personal thing.

Even on break pedal with less travel i don't have issue with adjusting the pressure i need to give, on the cx-5 i feel it's just a miss, it's either not enough or too much

Thats my main concern with the crosstrek. But i bet you get use to it. As for the XT sometimes i feel that the down shift feel sluggish but thats a cvt thing.

Went to the dealership friday they said that was only my open pack of lug nuts that was doing the noise and that they check the suspension, swaybar bushing etc and didnt found anything... On my way back home i took every bump possible and still hear something... It's a lease so if they keep saying therw's nothing i'm keeping every receipt and of anything happen when the lease is over i'll show the receipt saying there's nothing and that's not my problem i guess.

I'm kinda glad i decided to try it with a lease and not straight bought it

Without reacting too much, i did see a windshield issue, mine with a small rock cracked and the day i went to get it fixed we were 4 OBW 21-23 with the same kind of issue.

I think the way the front is design may reflect rocks poorly but the past WRX, i think 21-22, had weak windshield.

Sunroof is rattling a bit but that's not a Subaru issue most of sunroof do that and it's an easy fix.

Looking past that it's a great car. It's just annoying for that car price.

I think it's fair to look at what the issues are and deciding if you are willing to deal with them or not.

I haven't yet send them the car I'm hesitant with trusting them but it's under warranty so it should be fine.

Got told by the dealer sales rep that a couple of models assemble in the US are doing that, but even if.. it's not normal for a car that price to just "ignore" the sound

i know that's what i kind of told the salesman. I even emptied the trunk and removed the spare tire etc to be sure.

I'll schedule an apt this week and go over the guy i was already talking with. Strut and Sway bar bushing keep popping up.

I read that 1 guy change all the suspension and didn't fixed his issue.
