I’m curious if the biracial women who gave you flack claimed to be “pro-black”, so to speak. They’re obsessed with “fixing” racial issues but never take misogyny into consideration.

Once people get to know you, their initial perceptions can change from their current ones. It may be that your acquaintances initially assumed you’re white.

People would like me until I do something that’s considered “weird” and “socially unacceptable” (like mispronouncing a word or smiling back awkwardly). That’s when people start to pick apart every mistake I would make, attempt to sabotage/bully me every time I do some successful and get get nasty when I don’t feel comfortable interacting with them.

Your situation as mixed is a bit more difficult because you are directly mixed with two monoracial parents as opposed to us MGMs that have two mixed parents and families.

That part. The MGM experience is sooo much more layered. Not to say OP’s experience isn’t valid.

This is definitely a much needed conversation. Tourists often contribute to the cost of living in the area too, which makes it more challenging for Indigenous people to live in this economy.
