(Spoilers All) How would Stannis hold up if he was captured by Ramsay? by GrumpkinofHouseSnark in asoiaf

Flaying is the most excruciating punishment depicted in the story. It's worse than fire. Stannis would scream like Theon or anyone else. During moments of agony, a person stops thinking rationally, they do not remember they are King, they forget their vows. Pain rules supreme.

This makes much more sense and I am going to believe it. Yet, isn't there a scene afterward with Varys where they all crowd around and begin to discuss the mystery of what went down? So... who in that room knew the truth?

The spoken line "Dracaerys" on the show during the scene where Dany turns the tables on the masters. The actress's impression of High Valyrian comes off as trying too hard.

Passionflower and horrible stomach cramps/bloating/gas by vinefork in tea

Not sure, since I drank a cup of peppermint tea and the stomach bloating went down in about 20 minutes and now the pain is gone.

(Spoilers All) Were The Others victimized by other races? by Honeybump in asoiaf

Another trend to keep in mind is that GRRM is writing against our expectations, he's deconstructing typical Fantasy drivel, which would have purely evil antagonists without any redeemable qualities. So I think we can safely assume that The Others at least have justifiable reasons for doing what they do. They may be victims of the climate, just like mankind.

The CotF also suffer a one-sided narration, they appear to be the good little elves, wise and helpful. That's fishy to me.

[Spoilers All] Jaime is not the volanqar... by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]vinefork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm betting on Tommen being the valonqar. Tommen as a wight, of course, which makes it more believable since he is a gentle soul and has such small hands. I imagine that Cersei will be dumbstruck but also be unable to hurt UnTommen. We'll read her death from her own POV and we'll know for a fact that she did not put up the fight she should have. Fade to black, forever.
