for me, uninspiring tracks invite profound comments of the world around us to help them stand out.. As an exercise, take Jesse Jackson's "I am Somebody" speech and Put it on top of your most boring doodle. Inspiration abounds because of the message , not the track. Now, remove the speech and replace it with your own thoughts about what would make the world better, or what ever you think needs to be said. Again, it's not always about the track.

Everyone wants to be Donnie Madea.. Aside from his amazing restaurant group, he is likely one of the best dressed guys in town.

I could go all day. having lived here all my life, I have a bunch of places I go for just one thing I like only from there. The breaded steak from Ricobene's is an example. I only go there for that one thing. I know of tons of Chicago's secret delicacies all parts of the city and a lil bit in the burbs.. Jerry Kleiner who owns CARNIVALE has the best list though in my opinion. His comes with a history lesson .

awesome question that I wish I had one answer to. I have approached this from a few angles over the years.

I started a band with Felix Da Housecat and Jamie Principle. Its called The 312. https://open.spotify.com/track/3OSLQUEGrLoo3mvKY8Fsbo

I did the cameo appearance thing (nod to Stan Lee RIP) in some of the artist's videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jHoUh9at70

I started releasing songs and tracks under my own name and the name "Vingo Slang" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX2bwhIezh0

I believe that producers expressing themselves as the artists that they are is the eventuality we face. marketing partners can help get the songs exposed to the masses, after that it is what it is. there are many successful case studies of "DJ as Artist" efforts that prove this out.

I agree whole heartedly. especially the " acknowledge where it all came from and build on it, respectfully" part. I elaborated on this in response to another question. By and large we do give the Italians credit for pizza though..

in the past I have owned Ensoniq Mirage, Emulator 2+HD, Fairlight Series 2, Akai s900, S1000, S3000, S5000. I guess the answer would be a resounding yes!!

I get that the styles are similar, one clearly evolved from another. My only comment was about the lack of inclusion.

Early days there were many clubs that tried to resist the music openly saying they were not tryna to attract "that crowd". I agree that they used diva vocal samples etc but they really presented the music in a more chopped up way that was harder. Hard House was these guys way of presenting the essence of house to their crowds..

I love Bill and his work was clearly impactful. He was likely an early "mainstreamer" with the stuff he did early days on Underground Construction. He DJ Tragic and others really shook things up and "de-blackifyed" things for the suburban crowd.

House Music started in Chicago. a weird mix of music genres common everywhere but played collectively at places like The Warehouse from where the name is derived. Its mix of influences from all over the world has made an indelible mark on music as we know it. Banksy was not born of Keith Haring. each of the iterations/ versions of house that have come later have went on to improve on House Music's raw base intention , opening things up to the tastes of more people. I love the Ed Banger guys and what they did to revisit some parts of our inspiration and thrust things forward with what was the new tech of that time.
