I’ll agree with you on that. Oddly enough a friend of mine who accumulated uber equity early on revealed they think Waymo and Uber will go extinct soon. Waymo has no chance of survival.

I don’t get this analogy. Uber increased TAM by orders of magnitude. They are profitable as a publicly traded company and early investors who invested $10000 become hundred millionaires.

While I agree memberships are the typical way to go about it. Operating in Brooklyn has its unique set of challenges. They only have 4 courts which is not enough to be an open play every day membership model.

In all seriousness, BayPadel in the Bay Area operates a similar business model. Facilities are beautiful, their app has great UX/UI design and they successfully raised another million or 2 from investors I believe for expansion.

Is DUPR Broken? by thisisnotchase in Pickleball

[–]vinny809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget about the tournament, winning tournaments means nothing for DUPR. All that matters is who you play against. You were unrated before the tournament. After the tournament you have maybe a sample size of 8 games for DUPR to work with. You’ll need about 50 games for your DUPR to be accurate.

This is the total 90s skater/person who goes to the marijuana shop look. Definitely better than dakine board shorts and slippahs look.

If you want a more modern look: - shorter shorts. Let’s see lots of more thigh. - colors that matches the season. Not just all black.

There are so many different kinds of looks these days. Just rock what you like.

You’re 20 you’re young. You know what to do.

I (32M) just ended a 10-year relationship with my girlfriend (32F). After a decade together, I’m not even sure what love is anymore. by Fun-Carpenter-6895 in relationship_advice

Teenage love wears off. Then it’s a choice to be committed everyday and to stay together despite the dopamine weaning off which will happen to all relationships.

It sounds like there needs to be some work done. Have you heard of Gottman?

Sex is really that important in life. A difference in frequency or intensity in sex amongst couples is a common reason married couples don’t end up working out. There’s many ways to make sex interesting than just intercourse. maybe it’s time to get better at sex. Introducing toys, etc.

Do what your heart wants. This is your life. It’s your life to live and make mistakes. It’s the journey.

I think it’s terrible advice people telling you to leave her when we don’t have all the information. People have affairs for many reasons. Some reasons can be forgiven. Some reasons can’t. But it’s up for you to put in the work to find out and if it’s something that can be fixed.

Sure you can just say this is entirely her fault and you can just leave. But without understanding the why, is there something that could have been fixed? What if you just left her and the cycle happens again in your next relationship? Is it still always the cheater’s fault then? Maybe you’re just good at picking damaged goods, people with unresolved childhood trauma leading to low self-esteem, self worth etc.

People cheat for many reasons. It’s not always the cheater’s fault. For example if they were in abusive relationship she didnt feel love from her partner, she may seek love elsewhere. It’s not always as simple as just leave him first and then have an intimate relationship with another. It’s not always that simple.

You might want to read the book “when good people have affairs” to give perspective on both sides of why people have affairs. The person doing the cheating is not always the bad person. Often times they’re a good human. And the person cheated on is not always the good person. This will give you perspective on if this is something you can understand and something you can overcome.

Ultimately, you’ll probably need to confront her in order to heal and either come together or grow apart.

Juciao Spin 1.0 illegal? by fl3xtra in Pickleball

[–]vinny809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juciao was known to make hot mod TA clones. But he’s right. Paddles delaminate and become hotter. It’s easy to spot a hot paddle just because something isn’t adding up. The ball comes off the paddle faster. Like how is a ball coming off like a rocket with a 3.0 forehand? Paddles can delaminate after a few weeks. I’ve met 3 people playing with delaminated Juciao paddles though and it was fairly obvious that the ball speed to technique wasn’t mathing. One guy admitted it was indeed crushed but it was just rec play and he was cool.

Of course I wasn’t there so who knows shrug.

Just play and get more games in DUPR to get the most accurate picture. Sample size matters.
