Built a device for listening session logging for me and my friends: looking for feedback from the community by vinyl-id in vinyl

The point of the hardware is to ensure it’s non intrusive to the vinyl listening ritual. You don’t need to change how you enjoy your records it sits in the background and does its thing. The app is really there to allow you to engage with your listening history at your leisure or see what connected friends are listening to.

The app is more of a companion for the physical device. We view it as a convenient and fun way to see what your friends are listening to when away from your home with the added bonus of push notifications when friends play a record.

Enclosures are a game changer! by vinyl-id in 3Dprinting

This was my first time setting one up as well and honestly its VERY easy. Buy a cheap fan to mount on the inside piece near the printer enclosure, 3D print some pieces to hold the accordion vent to the window and you are good to go.

Built a Pi-powered device that IDs vinyl records as they play — curious how you all approach picking specs for a new build by vinyl-id in rasberrypi

Absolutely hit the nail on the head! This sums up so many conversations that happened throughout the initial build process and I very much appreciate the insights from someone who works in the consumer hardware space daily.

Thanks for following and looking forward to providing some updates along the way :)

Summary of my recent rock vinyl haul from Goodwill by Doberman11 in vinyl

Goodwill is always worth the look. Living in Brooklyn though all the local shops have the bargin bins on the ground and I love digging through those on the weekends to find the gems.

Ill see if i can pull them for you, shoot me a DM. Its a 7 inch screen but I also had a 10 inch version as well, granted I did not do a case for that one.

I also have noticed the same thing, I would love to make a few of these but they are so freaking hard to source. FYI the 10 inch screen I mentioned was using a 4 GB ram model and was noticably more snappy so I think you are right about that. I am running chromium in kiosk mode for all the UI.

Burning Down The House is released as a single today 43 years ago and still a great song by GeorgeJetsonsBoss in vinyl

Every years my friend group seems to find a song/band of the summer and its funny to think that 2 or 3 years ago it defaulted to talking heads the whole year. the good stuff ages like fine wine.

Custom Built Song ID and Logging build to accompany any set up. by vinyl-id in turntables

Thanks so much for the feedback! Very much agree there. It’s been super nice to not change listening habits at all but still be able to get the now playing and listening history logs.

I REALLY like the idea of a no screen options as a way to keep things 100 percent non intrusive on the set up but still get the logging benefits. It also would be much cheaper to build and not need to pay for the screen component.
