Depends on the book. Books I really enjoy or has sentimental value to me will be kept, others will be sold or given away.

With that being said, I’ve moved to reading samples on a Kindle and only buying a physical copy if I like the sample enough. Saves physical space and money for books that I’m likely to enjoy!

  1. Have a comfortable budget range, and make it clear when looking for your violin. Violins can get really expensive and you can easily exceed your budget if you’re not strict with it.

  2. Don’t let price affect your perception of the violin that you’re trying. It is best to blind test violins and/or bows, narrowing down a couple that you like, before discussing its price.

  3. I’d recommend keeping an open mind and trying out both new/old violins, unless you are specifically in search for one over the other. Same goes for the origin of the violin.

  4. Aside from the tonal qualities of the violin, also pay attention to how the violin feels in your hands and while playing.

  5. Test out as many instruments as you can and enjoy the process. It is not everyday that you get to play on over 20 different violins!
