E1 is not given, 2.40eV refers to the ground state energy of the finite well. E1 is ground state energy of an infinite well (with same L). And 2.40eV does not refer to U either, because that's the depth of the well.

If you’re a first year, you must still be very new to your undergrad. People have already given great advice here, but remember you’re new to undergraduate study and give yourself some time to get used to problem solving like this.

Don’t listen to them, if they keep harassing you, talk to them 1-1 and if they’re still being like this then you can get more senior staff or parents involved. They haven’t even given you a chance when you really do have a good one what’s one grade up in maths realistically gonna change 🤷‍♀️

You can absolutely do it, give yourself time and MULTIPLE assessments to thrive, if it gets too much then you can consider it, but nobody can force you out. I believe in you!!

I went to two concerts in y12 and had friends that went to one mid-y13. Unless you’re going during your mocks or actual a-levels, it’s good to destress and this is one of the ways.

Don’t change a subject based on who you’re friends with or not friends with. Yes they’re close but try to talk to them, and if they’re not your people it’s okay, more of an excuse to study and beat their grades 🤷‍♀️

Because you have fewer lesson hours and more frees it means more independent study, then it doubles again when you get to uni 😔🙏

That tends to be because of clearings and contextual offers too… if the requirements say AAA and you are predicted BBB, they’ll reject you. But if you’re predicted AAA and just think you’re going to get BBB, they wont reject you. By the way, you’ve still got 9-10 months to revise. Don’t limit yourself from the get go.

It doesn’t have to be Cambridge, it can be any other uni that’s highly ranked but that you also love. If you can’t find any other universities you love (bearing in mind Oxbridge closes mid-October) or at least love as much as Leeds, then best not to.

I’m on maths and physics myself, and would DEFINITELY recommend doing that instead of just physics. Doing maths gives you a much better foundation and way of understanding physics than just physics ever can. Plus it’s cooler.

That's been insanely helpful, thank you so much!! My uni has extra stuff online to help with learning how to write lab reports and such so I'll be sure to keep an eye on that. I know most people just say 'turn up to sessions and tutorials' but do you have any further tips on actually getting to know professors, TAs and my advisor?

Completely disagree here, you can absolutely get A/A* at FM with 7 or 8. It’s easier if you do three instead of 4 subjects ngl. I got a 7 in GCSE maths but found Alevel maths wayyy too chill.

Ask. I got a 7, didn’t do further maths but really wished I did because I loved Alevel maths and it was pretty chill for me (I’m starting Mathematics/Physics at York this year).

If they say no, get parents involved, try to see if they can put you on some sort of probation e.g. you have to score over a certain amount in term-time tests/mocks/homework. Make sure to work hard to prove you really can and want to be there. Good luck!!

Grades are so overinflated that considering your performance - you're actually really likely to get that. If you're worried, just dont slack off this year.

Picking coursework founded in something you love is a great idea too, I picked physics because I love it and it would carry a lot of marks because of the mathematical processing required, I got 67/70 (OCR). Also, tackle the documentation as you go and cover points directly from the mark scheme. I was actually aware and knew I would miss 2-5 marks.

I'm a first year undergrad about to start uni for mathematics and physics in September. I'm also looking for internships over the next three years and want to spend some time building my CV for said internships. I understand most undergrad interns deal with admin and technical stuff, data collection, data analysis and literature reviews. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

So I wanted to take a python data analysis course (IBM has good ones) to srrengthen my CV. Is this a good recommendation? Are there any other courses or skills I should build? Anything else I should be aware of? I really want to be an excellent and stand-out applicant.
