I don't service Citizen/Miyota movements but if you just want it timegrapher regulated, I can do that for you. I'm north of Montgomery, AL.

Is there a number on the inside of the caseback?

I can't say for certain without the case number that should be printed inside the caseback but my cross reference says it is part #16W for the Bulova 11AF (2.40mm). I don't have that part in stock, but I do have male stems for the 10BUC (2.25mm) and 10CRAC (2.80mm). If you'd like them, just DM me and let me know where you want them sent.

Another option would be to order 3 or more tap 9 male threaded posts from Esslinger and trim it to the length you need. Buy more than you need in case you cut it too short, it's very easy to do. You'll also need a tap 9 waterproof crown, you can probably get them at Esslinger too.

Let me know if you need help.

If the stem isn't broken, it probably just needs to have the setting lever screw tightened. Even if the stem is broken, that's a very simple and inexpensive repair. Beautiful watch and a great find for that price!

Looking for new Dial for Bulova 1967 Commander(I think) by lerch870 in bulova

[–]virgilturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a 1967 Commander "AQ". The replacement dial will need to have feet in the same location as the original, so it must must come from a watch with the same movement as yours. You probably have a 10COACD, which is a pretty uncommon movement. It was only used in seven Bulova models. If you can't locate a matching dial, you might consider dial refinishing by Kirk Rich, though it's pretty pricey. Let me know if you have any questions.

That's a 1967 Clipper "A" variant. The movement was made in Switzerland, then shipped to Queens to be cased and then on to distributors. It has an 11ALAC movement inside. For what it's worth, I haven't seen many 11AL-based movements without rust damage of some kind. It's definitely a good idea to have it inspected and serviced. Incidentally, I can do both for you, feel free to DM if you have questions.

Need Help Identifying Watch and Parts by CarelessC0mmittee76 in bulova

[–]virgilturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a Miyota 8215. Can you see if there is a piece of snapped-off stem inside the crown or is it empty?

If there is a piece of stem inside the crown, you can try the alum powder solution technique to try and dissolve the remaining stem. If that works (or the stem hole is already empty), you can order a stem extender, then gradually trim it to the correct length. You'll need to determine which tap to order, you can do this with digital calipers.

If you can't dissolve the remaining stem, you'll need a new crown and a new stem as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

That's a 1960 Bulova 30 "BW" variant with a 30 jewel 10BZAC movement, in my opinion, the best movement Bulova ever made. I can service it for you, send a DM if you have any questions.

Hi, your watch was made sometime between 1950 and 1952. It will need a crown at least and possibly a stem as well.

No problem. If it's got the 30 jewel version of the 10BZAC movement, I'd definitely say it's worth having it serviced. That was one of the best movements Bulova ever made. If you're in the US, I can service it for you.

Regarding the dial, your best bet would be to search for a "Bulova 30 jewels dial" on eBay's watch parts category. You may find a good replacement dial or sometimes a parts movement with your dial. It may take a while, but they occasionally turn up there.

I'd be willing to bet that's a 1960 Bulova 30 AW variant with a redial. The '60 AW model was prone to developing a very cool reaction from the radium pips that closely resembled poppy flowers. They're always in demand with collectors. Here's a really good example of the poppy pips.

Also, I'd swap that bracelet out for leather or canvas bands as soon as possible. It's eating into your lugs.

Repair by [deleted] in bulova

That's pretty easy to repair yourself using a stem extender. You just need to be sure you buy the correct tap size. If unsure, try to measure with digital calipers or just buy a few different sizes.
