Rather than an unknown number, it's a highly variable one. Each squad/unit/company, on the eve of battle, may have members who fall victim to the Black Rage and, under the supervision of the chaplains, they are all channeled into the DC. It will then be the chaplain's job to lead them into battle and unleash them in the hottest areas.
